Some guppy questions

You do not get show endlers -only criteria for them is keeping the lines pure. Also knowing where they were collected helps.

Show guppies tend to have larger tails and dorsal fins. The strains are also more consistant in terms of colour. The body shape is thicker (if that makes sense)

When you're on the Home page there should be a Site Navigation box on your left top. Click on the Goups option and you will find the "All About Guppies" group there.

There will be a + Join option for you to join the group.

If I can add another question; are guppies known jumpers? My reasoning tells me that the males will struggle to get out of the water but females might not, although they can be slow and cumbersome if pregnant?

@Jimmy - yes, guppies can jump. I did come home once to find a female on the floor when I did not close the lid properly.

Yesterday I got a trio of endlers and a trio of black ATFG guppies.

i`ve notice some of these guppies have red (or light orange) eyes. Why??

 

Because they are albino's. You will note that the bodies are also yellowish.
The 'normal' strains have black eyes and grey bodies.

 

Thanks @Irma. Maybe later on I will try to get some red guppies. Another question: How long do ATFG guppies carry their fry before giving birth? About the same time as normal guppies? Longer or shorter?

 

Each ATFG strain is different. The Full Reds only drop every 2-3 months. The Red Lace Snakeskins that I had were more regular. I think that the Full Blacks are more like normal guppies and drop every 4-5 weeks. Not sure.

 

Ok, thanks. The reds take VERY long. How hardy is the fry of ATFG guppies? Or does it depends on the strain? And how hardy is the fry of pure Endlers?

 

You should see them jump when caught in a net, unbelievable . But mostly female I see jumps and males with short fins jumps a lot, but havnt yet had jumped from tank, only net style :argh:

 

The fry are hardy as long as you keep the water quality high and feed good quality food. I feed freshly hatched brine shrimp twice a day as well as the Prof's pellets and flake food. The ATFG guppies love to eat there fry so I have a separate drop tank for when the female is about to give birth. I use the 5 in one Marina breeding box. I removed all the compartments so that it is just the shell. The fry drop through the bottom and into the main drop tank.

Endlers are extremely hardy and the best part is that they do not eat there fry!
