i would add one, and see how it works.. if you feel confident enough and dont see algae, add another one.. also, dont have your lights on for more than 8 hours.. i split mine into 4 hours twice a day.. once at 7Am-11am and 6pm-10pm both times i can see my fish :)

@Ryan252 sorry dude for the thread Hi-jack... if u mind then maybe jenn should create a new thread to ask her q's?

Ryan I'd be happy to start a different thread if you'd like. Alternatively we could turn this thread into an Aquarium Plants Idiot's guide, with me playing the part of the idiot :weird:

Hi again - just a quick update. I spent some time hunting for a nice aquarium lighting unit. I eventually found one - it has 4x54w T5s  So I've tripled the light.

I also added some ferts - at half the recommended dose.

The tank has been like that for a week and a half and I'm happy to say that the swords are getting new leaves and the vallis is growing taller. I have a few algae spots on the glass, but nothing that can't be controlled by a bit of scraping (so far).

@shihr - Thanks for the guidance.
