i'm not really seeing growth on the wad of moss i had bought from AK, i tied some to driftwood etc, left the rest floating in the now revamped tinytank. some of it has turned brown, so i put it in a bigish glass jar, pulled a bit of stocking over the opening for bugs, and put the glass jar with water outside my flat on a table in the garden, dunno if it'll grow now in water in the sun or die some more...

funny thing is, the "leaf" structure on what i bought loose, and structure of the java moss log i bought from them look different, one has very fine thread and leaves, the loose stuff looks a bit more course, dunno if its just different growth conditions or different stuff.

i got a bit of moss in my cuttings packet from fish, which is now tied to a piece of wood and still looking good, but the structure of that is also fine, like what i got on the log from AK, and not like what i bought loose.... :hmmmm:

slagetr, what conditions is your moss growing in? high/low light etc

High and low light. I removed it from my high light tank though. It just didn't fit the scape I was after. But it does take a while to take hold in an aquarium. But once it has, it grows like there is no tomorrow!! It is really good in fry tanks.

As far as I know java moss with grow in low light and high light condition one just slower than the other. My java moss that I got I also tied down to a piece of wood and I had a low light tank at the time it grow but very slowly now that I have added it to a high light tank it seem to be growing a bit faster.... that is of course if the word tails don't eat it all..

    word tails?

lol, the moss i had on that log i bought (for the moss on it) has either come off mostly, to be caught on the sponge i put over the HOB inlet, and thrown into the jar, or its been eaten by some of the fish in the tank... i could have SWORN there was quite a bit of wires dangling in the current two days ago, hehe, this morning i saw some of fish's guppies nipping at the moss on the log.

Slayer's guppies seem better behaved :D they are leaving whats tied to the other log alone, lol
