I cant see how everyone is suppose to know everything about fish/plant keeping and how they are expected to shut up if they don't know enough. Linxie and co. Has a right to say if they like the tank. You Henk being the expert could just have said "Shakester, just watch out those plants are not aquatic plants, they will rot away".
Why is it always the Same members making k@k ???
Noobs make mistakes and the experts are here to help them learn so that they don't make those mistakes.

I'm not making kak Franna - all i am saying is that this forum is turning into a place where if someone posts a photo of something and there’s some serious issues (as a rotting plant will mess your water up in a big way) most of the active members seem to have the need to reply to every topic do so without actually knowing what they are replying to.

i for one would rather have a slower forum where more of the new members search the forum than come and expect to be spoon fed. Most new threads, other than stuff relating to specific issues on members tanks, have been discussed. The discussion on the Kurper thread, the indigenous fish thread as well as a few other have been discussed to death in another thread. When a link to that thread is posted the newer members seem to while their behinds on that info and wish to continue the new thread and don’t want to read 10 pages of info on an older thread. I just think that that is extremely bad manners as well as disrespectful to the members that went out of their way to research, make phone calls, buy books etc to provide the info in another thread. This is where the MODS and Admins need to step in, lock a thread with a comment like “ask and answered – search the forum”.

    +1 Henk
I agree with you.. and by the way guys , a whiile ago I started my first planted and the only one to tell me the plants were not aquatic were mr Henk
If he had not I would be sitting here now asking why are my plants dying ? ,why are my fish dying ? etc etc . the advise was taken from where and who it came after reading all the posts from that person and knowing the advice is correct .not from the number of posts or so called rep that person had allocated, how the advise is given doesnt matter its whats in it guys.

not a problem Franna. Maybe it's time the rest of you bring this to the mod/admin's attention as i keep on reporting posts/threads and i think it is starting to become a little watered down from my side

    Define Amazone biotope.
    You can do:
Flooded Amazone forest biotope or Amazone acid pool biotope or Amazone river biotope.
    Different plants,different fish.

It's a amazon biotope,a biotope is when all the fish and plants in the tank come from the same region in the world and the owner tries to replicate it as best he can.it's really something special to see fish in their natural inviorment(spelling).

    Hi Dasher,
Most fish found in Amazone wil be at home in the Flooded Forest.Tetras,Discus,Angels will all venture into the forest with the anual flooding.
Corys and Wiptail catfish will work as scavengers.Hatchetfish can occupy the upper level of the aquarium.
Arowanas is common in the Flooded Forest as they persue their prey, but they grow big so you'll need a big aquarium.Oscar will also be amongst the predators.
    I don't know how you'll manage a predator/prey biotope.
    Plants and decore:
You will find brocken pieces off wood/driftwood or bogwood on the floor and overhanging vegitation.Although not native to the Amazone,Java fern can be used for this.
Grasslike plants and bushes will cover the floor. You can look out for Alternanthera reineckii ,Hygrophila sp. and Echinodorus or Amazone sword plants.Hairgrass can cover the substrate. You can also add floating plants.
