As promised, here are 2 pictures of the angel fry.

The eggs that were laid over the weekend god eaten up. I think the parents stressed when I cleaned the tank... and ate up!

    Update

At the moment my wife and I are house-sitting my parents house for them while that are on a weeks holiday to the drakensberg. I am going home once a day to feed the community tank and the fry.

Not seeing the fry often makes you realise the size of them as they are growing, and I can gladly confirm that the decapsulated Brine Shrimp I bought from Dolphin is DEFINATELY worth their weight in gold.

Having a look at the pictures posted 3 days ago, compared to how big they were yesterday afternoon, I can easily say that they have almost doubled in size.

There is one fry that seems to be about twice the size of the others, and has even started to shape up nicely, and starting to look like a little (tiny) angel.

The fry have been fed on Liquifry (for egg layers) and decapsulated brine shrimp.

I don't have any pictures to post right now. Not having a proper macro lense makes it very difficult to get these fish on film. It is also very difficult to compare growth on camera, because you need to get pictures from the same distance all the time, making it almost near impossible. I will update pictures as soon as I have the tme at home to take decent pics.

Anyone looking for good fry food without the hassles of starting a Brine Shrimp hatchery... contact Dolphin. The stuff is definately working!

Nothing unusual about that - people often don't believe me when I tell them how often my angels spawn :)

It looks like it's going really well now - congrats!

    Thanks Vee.

Yes, seems to be going very well. I've actually added some Blackwater product to the tank... Never thought I'd say this, but the tank looks a lot more nicer with it in.

I believe it is also good for the fry? (true/not ture?)

Some tanks do look more 'natural' with the blackwater products added. I'm not sure which brand you are using but it certainly shouldn't harm the fry as the water conditions should be closer to their natural environment. I've only added some of the MicrobeLift Amazon Black & Softwater Conditioner to most of my angelfish, rams and apistogramma tanks - the fish seem far more 'at home' now, so I can vouch for that brand :)

Hmmm... I don't want that. I'll rather support the TASA members with fish!

I've spent 10 days housesitting my parents house, as well as 2 days away in Vryheid at my grandfather's funeral.

I'm fortunate enough to stay 10 minutes away from my folks, so I was able to come home once a day to feed the babies. During the period I was away, my angels spawned again... and in their agro "protect eggs, protect eggs" it would appear they ate their first spawn. stupid idiots.

The second spawn also got eaten.

SO I'm back to square one!

Shame i'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my condolenses.

As to your angels, what a pity its very sad to loose fish even if they are babies.
Maybe next time you should remove the babies when the parents spawn again.

I hope that your angels don't waste any time and spawn again soon.

They are already showing signs of spawning soon. I reckon by the end of the week.

I have put in a little too much of the blackwater stuff (that makes the tank look a lot darker and more amazonish)... so they are swimming around very "blind".. but seem a lot more relaxed.

    Hey Zoom!!!!

Hope the angels spawn again soon!!! I was told that you can't keep the parents in with the babies to long, they must be seperated at some time, otherwise, they will keep on eating the fry... Better to move the fry to a growout tank as soon as you can and then the parents will start spawning soon after that AGAIN!!!! And thats how the cycle goes....

Good luck Zoom, remember with every spawning they are becoming more experienced so you might have some great (and successful) baby-boomers soon. See if your better half will be okay with a grow-out tank soon though, just mention the babies' plight and you should have success!

You don't want to move the babies as soon as you can. Move the babies only once they take up the whole of the existing tank - in other words, when you look at the tank and there are babies everywhere instead of just in a small area of the tank, then move them. The parents also need time to recover before spawning again or else they become exhausted which will then lower their immune system :blink1::bigsmile:
