    I would never have given up completely. I'd rather get my son involved in the hobby than stop. Granted, I did HAVE to take a break for the last few weeks of Roxy's pregnancy, and then chill a bit for the past few weeks of Joel's life. Certain things needed to be prioritized correctly, and heaven help me if my fishkeeping was prioritized as first! Pics may take a few weeks. Sadly, a LOT of the plants are melting. Don't blame them for it though... being in cold water for 2 nights took it's toll on them I guess. But I know they will all bounce back healthier than before!

    Yep, you did help with a lot of the technical advise. Did I not mention my appreciation n my long post earlier?? Thanks again Liaquat, you confirmed a lot of my decisions as being correct, and guided me on the correct path... even over a year ago when I bought my regulator from you the information you shared with me over the phone stayed true to form now!

    DSD has 3 dosing regimes. One for low tech set ups where you add liquid ferts at your weekly WC. A medium tech where you are dosing every day. And a high tech dosing regime where you are basically dosing the same as the medium tech, but adding other buffers and additional requirements because of the pressurized CO2 addition. Contact Dirk and ask him for his information leaflet... it's all very self explanatory.

    Sorry to hear about the plants, I kept a few clippings for someone a week or so back and the bucket turned into soup in 4 days..... Must be the cold!

    How does DSD compare price wise to well known brands?

    Nice writeup dude!! I can't wait to see some new pics of the system. I wonder why the plants all of a sudden melted? Is there a lot of crypts in the mix there? That's hectic.

    Yeah, the majority of the plants were crypts. It must've been the cold water and transition.

    Thanks @hein24 and @Sean J. I will definitely take you up on some plants when I have settled down a little.

    Just a quick one Sean, how much water must I put into that Drop checker? There was no instructions, only 5 drops of reagent, but nothing about how much water. I thought 5ml, but 5ml doesn't even fit in it.

    Fill the bulb about half way with 4dkh water (if you can find it) and then add 2 drops of the solution.

    Or follow this:

    I know that Dorry Pets has the Cal Aqua Labs solution, which is already mixed. Works like a bomb.

    if i can but in here...

    @Zoom fill the drop checker half way or just over and thats more than enough..
    http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29331&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1301744644

    also with the reagent there is no set rule, you only need to be able to see it change colour so if your eyesite is not the best then add abit more till the colour is more distinct..
    oh from my experience dont put them anywhere that co2 gas bubbles can get under it and give you false reading also the suction cap will turn white or is already white? what i did is possition mine on the back of my aquarium making the white suction cup something to give me some contrast to better tell what colour actually is.. HTH

    @Sean J

    The solution you sold me works on +2 to +7dKH for one set of reading, and +7 to +15dkh for another set of reading. I know my tank's kh is around 5. So I actually just used the tank water (Pre C02) and using the readings that they recommend for the +2 to +7
