    I joined because, as I am sure has happened to many others out there, a LFS sold me a 30lt tank and about 26 fish all within 24 hours and assured me everything would be fine! (one of which was a pleco that grew to 30+cm!)

    I stayed because I found a wealth of information and many knowledgable people on the forum willing to educate me and help me to sort out the mess and help me with many other things along the way making my hobby of fish keeping an enjoyable one!

    I continue learning something new on the forum all the time and know should anything happen, I have a place I can go, where I will be given sound advice from caring people that are always willing to help. I can also share what I have learnt along the way with someone else experiencing something I have been through and have learnt about.

    This has all led to me being totally fish crazy :fisheye:, the only regret I have is that I didn't realise my love and passion for this hobby sooner :)

    I am on a few specialist UK forums.
    Joined TASA to see what was happening on the fish scene back in the "old country". Didnt intend to stop by for more than the odd visit.......A year later I am a Mod!

    @Reedfish Strange how that works.

    I stumbled upon the forum looking for info on Discus and joined when I found out there was a Prof on-board that gave better advice than my guru fish guy that worked at the Two Oceans Aquarium now I just go to him when I want to get advice on how to build anything bigger than 2000L and use the forum for the rest. And I stay cos of the great people and the friends I have made.

    i absolutely cannot agree more with you !!!

    hehe i guess you were hooked? hahaha ok i couldnt put it any other way!!!

    dude, i wonder if the professor @Dirk, realises what a profound impact he has had on so many of us here -and on our fishies :)

    professor @Dirk, if we havent said so yet, or often enough, thank you for investing your valuable time and your knowledge to all of us here at TASA, besides the thousands of people who never joined the forum, but yet still learn from all that you share.

    oh yes, and for tolerating us for our horrible grammar and spelling - of which i am unfortunately a transgressor all too often! :)

    I also just want to add, that people found my love for fish really strange....and aventually a member of this site intreduced me to TASA after I advertised my Discus pair in the Junk mail. It was really great to know that I was not the only weird person for the love of Tropical fish and breeding, and I now feel normal again, knowing i`m between people with the same passion and love I have for these amazing little things called Fish.

    Fish talk in general gets eye rolls all around me. My friends tell me they are gonna bring the "bait casters" and fish in the 5 foot. They love fishing... I then look at them and state the obvious. I need to dust the old faithfull shotgun anyway... Don't bother me much that the friends don't appreciate it as much. Must say in the time Iv'e joined TASA I have learnt some neat tricks and care tactics.

    Here we all talk fish. Doesn't matter if you are Afrikaans, English, Zulu, Xhosa, French, German or what ever you speak. Fish are Fish.

    Facebook.... Nah!
