750l 2m planted community tank Discus, tetra and catfish.
    300l 1.2m sump. 3 compartment.
1st 10 layers of floss mechanical and quite alot of bio going on in the stack.
2nd 20l of ceramic rings with bioballs floating ontop with airstone.
3rd pump chamber with some more bioballs.
There is a sack of bioballs in the tank overflow that are half submerged half in the splash zone.

Continous water change with aged treated water from an outside 1000l JoJo with a tap topup. Approximately 10% per day.

Improvements. I want to set up a pre mechanical filter to sort out the big bits. My floss clogs up quite quickly.

    120 litre
1 * undergravel filter (covers entire bottom)
    1 * bio filter (120 litre) (unipet)
    1 * internal filter (60 litre) (tetratec IN400)

    community tank

All that's missing is another small internal

    Aquatop CF500UV - 2000l P/h
boyu 1400l P/h for extra water movement and basic filtration.

I clean the boyu weekly and it helps keep the Aquatop cleaner for longer as the big canister takes so much more effort to clean.

Standard 3 Foot - Fluval 403 (8 years old and going strong!)
The 403 is overkill at 1200 lph but I had it lying around and it cretaes an awesome flow! It is filled with Hydroton only for biological filtration. Mechanical/Chemical filtration is taking care of by two Resun Magi-700 Internal filters containing a coarse sponge and sachet of purigen each.

Standard 4 ft community tank with mostly Rainbows, completely overstocked, with a 3 ft sump. Nothing fancy in sump, first chamber 2 sponges with filter floss on top, second chamber is filled with ceramic rings and last chamber has a 1200 lph pump on it.
The 3 ft South American community tank have a Aquaclear 30 HOB about a third from the left, a Dophin SH_380 HOB on the right of the tank and then a Dophin F-500 internal filter at the left back corner.
My Cube 300x300x300 have a Jebo 501 HOB at the left back, with intake at left front, some DIY with pipe extention and a Aleas IPF-40B internal filter at right back.

Very interesting to see that I am the first to mention HOB filters on my tanks. Like to see who trusts them as well.
All the internal filters run with the standard spunges as supplied. The HOB's use the standard cartridges as supplied with the units

Now that's what I call a serious filter to tank ratio.... NICE! And some good service from a good product. 8 years is not shy.

Thanks for sharing everyone. Keep it coming....

I think the reason some of us don't use HOB filters is because they need a whole in the tank lid and that is less than ideal IMO. also only the fancy ones have ceramic rings and sponges, the cheapo's come with cartages that need to be changed from time to time eliminating your dio filtration. but there is no doubt that HOB filters are great for mechanical filtration. I for one would love to have a biowheel :D

I have a 450lt tank with Haps, Synodontis, Common Pleco & a Fire Eel.

Fitration by a Tetra Tec 2400 with Plastic Bio Balls, Ceramic rings that came with the filter. Various thickness filter wool and porous foams and some well aged carbon that is obviously no longer working as carbon, but provides nice surface area for bacteria to grow on so i have decided not to take it out.

I have 16 Fish, 1 x Syno, 2 x Common Pleco & 1 x 45cm Fire eel. I do 15% Water change weekly. When I do water changes: Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10 - 20ppm and Ammonia 0. I am currently feeding very heavily to get my boys to grow out a bit.

    60 l tank.
    Cascade 700 filter.
Will post the layout later on. Packed the weekend, but remember I put my ceramic rings in first, with bio sponge and filter floss in between and Seachem Martix in the mix as well...

I'm all for DIY but there is no way my wife would let me put something like that in my display tank. :)
