Yeah @BoelderBeestie - the ph drops or rises, depending on the season / tidal currents. I think earlier this year it was 6.2, last year November was around 8.2. It's ever changing and at least the water is clean enough to even bath, brush teeth and etc... But I wouldn't drink it though - already had two bladder infections in just 6 months so I'm avoiding it entirely. Some days, it tastes like salt and other days just like fresh cold water.

For those who can afford to buy one.

What are anchor worms? too lazy to go and google right now as I am writing a email to one of the LFS to get prices on gobies.

as opposed to paying R50 for that test kit. It works very well for me so I'm not complaining.

Yeah @BoelderBeestie, perhaps this would explain why my parents are more sick than I am. I avoid drinking the water - boiling for tea / coffee seems to be ok. There is a sand filter and a secondary filter before it reaches the two Jojo tanks but it doesn't always help as during rain season, it turns brown and the sand filter recently backed up so someone had to replace all the PFS in it.

Yeah we also have a manual water filter too - my mother has to clean it every week. I have to dig up the name for it - it's got this ceramic hump on the top, then drains to 3 different mediums (I think charcoal, leca and something else I can't seem to identify). Works well.

    That's the one.

Today I need to learn about external parasite treatment. Only have meds for internal bacterial and parasite issues. Hopefully I can afford it :(

    WHAT I LEARNED TODAY:

It's not a good idea to keep Assassin Snails in a shrimp tank after they've depleted the local pest snail population.
I've been seeing fewer shrimp over the past two weeks but no bodies. Then I started googling and found this:

So, I'm taking out Bonny and Clide as soon as I get home and will store them in a friend's community tank (no shrimps, no pet snails, no Loaches, Ciclids etc.) until their expertise is needed again.
