works really well to mix a variety of granules and flakes in an old (WELL WASHED) pepper grinder.

I fed some blanched baby marrow the other day and to my surprise everybody, from the rams to the tetras loved it.

@Anine, I got a salt grinder - never used it just took the salt out and ground that up in a blender for cooking use :p Then I washed the grinder out and now I use that to mix my dry foods in. And it is easy to feed the fish and not over feed them

@Zoom I know and thats why I didnt do a price compare :( (would of love to tho)
but for me, I do know where to get them cheaper and not the ones that fell of the truck haha...

The only problme I find with Tetra is that its fairly oily - after 2-3 days feeding, theres a thin layer of oil on the surface.
I am not sure if Dirks or Ocean nutrition does that or not.
Dirk!! you must get your products onto the shelf so we can go out and buy them :D
(or you only do mail orders)

I read on forums that the guys over seas don't really like Tetra fish food, That is why I started this thread to find out what other food I can use.

Luckily I only bought a small tetra flake one.

Think I will be going with the Omega one variants for Tropical Fishes.

I am not sure why people will complain much about these products overseas
The only reason I say my gets a oily layer on the surface is that I feed over 200 little fishes
in one tank.. so feeding is a frenze I take 2 big pinches and the food gets eaten in 2mins flat.
They say never feed over feed? all my cory never gets a chance to takes the tetra flakes
so thats why I suppliment them with tetra shrimp pellets.
Tetra is considered a very good brand (premium)even in the Asain country (Taiwan,China & Japan)
And I dont think anyone locally has had bad experiance with it (maybe just me?) on the oily part^^
but oily surface is no big issue cos the water changes removed it^^

Variety, Variety, Variety...Your fish will reward you with beautiful color, health and vitality...

It's really unnecessary to mix different brands into one container. Rather than doing this you can just alternate between different food brands and types.

I use about 8 or 9 different foods. It varies between flakes, pellets, freeze dried worms, shrimp, etc. I put them in a long row and take the next in line for every feeding.

Very cool idea, I think I will start doing this, As I have only been feeding with Tetra all my life. I also think the variety will be good for the fishes.

Yeah of cos - I also put them out in row and select all the food.
I think I am spiteful on my wife tank.
Cos her 200+ gets the normal flakes (why a big bottle of 310g) dosnt last that long
    My tank gets
    tetra - flakes
    tetra - Pro energy
    tetra - Pro color
    tetra - Prima
    tetra - shrimp pellets x6
    hikari - Algae wafer x 6

    and then frozens
    Bloodworm
    Daphina

I dont use the following anymore
    Brine shrimps
    Athnia
    Euro worms

    Fresh Vegi -
    Cucumber only..

Today's freeze dried brine shrimp, white shrimp, and blood worms.
Tetra's vegetable flakes, and color-enhancing flakes
    Daro's multi flakes
Tubifex worms, whatever brand is available.
some cheap brand of tropical bits.

The idea behind the variety is that whatever vitamin, etc. is missing in one Brand will be provided by another...
