that is a good idea.... then it becomes a great group effort.

I agree a team effort is in order for this thread. Editing the first post shouldn't be too much of a hassle as we can ask the powers that be :) to add the new details in as and when we need it. I'm sure they won't mind :D

Sure, we can do this one of two ways. Either PM one of the mods the info, with your name at the end as credit, and then they can add it on to the original. Or you can just put it as your own post in the same format that I did in the beginning. I like the first idea though, so all the info is together.

Here are a few more pics.

Just one thing I would like to clear up - yes, the fish in these pictures are in something that you could call the 'wild', ie: they're not in the confines of a fish tank. Some may argue that aquarium-reared fish will never attain such sizes. This is partially true, because fish in captivity don't often recieve the amount of nutrition as they would in the wild. However, under good care most aquarium fish can reach a similar or even the same size, while a few can even grow larger than their wild counterparts. Always prepare to keep a fish AS IF it were going to grow to it's full potential.

This is an old thread, but my first time reading it. I am shocked about the size of the Clown Knife, I had one a few years back, but sold it and all my other fish to a LPS. My Clown Knife was about 20cm - too large for the tank I had it in and had to get rid of it. I must say, I learnt my lesson then and won't buy one of them ever again.

    guys
    great site.
anybody selling any alge eating fish out there i got a problem with some algae. i think i'm leaving the tank exposed to much sunlight or my aquarium light is on too long +10 hrs a day.

Yes, I do think the direct sunlight is what is causing the over abundance of algea. Is it
possible to shelter the tank from sunlight?

Algae eating fish is not the answer. Get the tank away from the natural sunlight, and only have +/- 7 hours of light on the tank per day.

Hi here are a few more, The Midas Cichlid and Vieja Zonata these cichlids grows relatively large up to 30-35cm, weighting in between 2 - 3.5kg and becomes relatively destructive. I have personal first hand experience on this 2 species as I currently have them housed in 1100lt tank which I need to get a bigger tank sooner.
