Vis, well in English it translate into The great wise one :)
I am not so great or wise but I am one, so I choose this name.

Old nickname, just by chance it also falls into the aquarium realm.

Okay, here's one for the books.
Santa Clause gave me my name!
My Dad's surname was McArony, pronounced something like Mac-Aron-Knee but usually mispronounced as Macaroni.
One year at his works Christmas party, Santa was there dishing out presents for us kids, When he called my name he, as usual, mispronounced it. When I came to get my gift, he looked at me and said, "You're too small to be a Macaroni, you're just a little Noodle!" ... and the name stuck! (Although I'm not so little anymore)

Awesome tattoo! I have a gecko on my shoulder :D

This is the coolest story ever!

Mine's a long story but I'll spare you the details.

I used to be called linkin (combo of name and step fathers surname) then it became Links, and then Linxie. Now my friends call my Linx or Linxie

    Cool thread...
Azurekoi is an amalgamation of a coupla things....in the mid 90's i had this little 2 man pond building company - me and a Malawian guy called Funeral(kid you not...his dad was a gravedigger, hence the name....weird)...We built ponds around the Noordhoek area and did this all from my 1962 Vespa sprint,my only"company vehicle" - called ourselves Azure Aquatics(like the colour and the aliteration...) - hence the first part of the nick...
    Koi,cos it's my profession(and passion,like all fish)
    - azure + koi = azurekoi.....QED

In afrikaans a "slimpiet" is a knowledgeable person. I am a computer engineer with 20+ year experience. Self centric I know, but what the hell, I can boast, can't I?

    What's in a NAME?

Just for fun, I thought to ask this.

Some of us have pretty straight-forward user names... for eg, mine! (probably shows lack of imagination ) but in case it needs some explanation, Tracy is my first name, and my surname begins with P.

But some of you have really wacky user names! Anyone care to share how you came up with yours, or explain?

Well, I SA Molly Breeder do not live up to my name anymore now! LOL

I would change it... if I could but it would cause confusion as to who I am. Hehe.

Good thread tracyp. Can't wait for the other answers.
