Urgent swop/sale tyre track eel

Hi everyone,

I may not be new to fish, but I am new to some types of fish, and I made an impulse buy at the pet (something I never do, but decided I was clever) store of a tyre track eel yesterday. I woke up this morning and a neon tetra was missing.

I bought him yesterday for R160, but I am willing to swap him for something that will be compatible with my tetra, even if I can only get 5 in return...

I have him in his own tank now, 15cm by 15cm which is unfair, so it is VERY URGENT!
I do not want to put extra stress on him, but I also don't want my tank depleted... He ate another two this morning before I could catch him.

No Red eye tetras please, and no Danios.
No artaficially colored fish either. E.g. Colored glass fish.

Will it go with malawis

Pas I said, I don't know anything about them experience wise, however research wise there are people that say they coexist with their Malawis, however it could be a risk, as I have a Malawi tank and they eat EVERYTHING, so maybe for the sake of the eel, and maybe even your own fish, it is a wise idea not to take the risk.

 

I would love to have it but I'm not sure I have medium size malawis let's see what the other guys say I've read that feeding it is a problem

I got him from Companion Pets in the Leaping Frog center in Centurion.

 

He is going to have no tank mates, in a big tank, so he can grow nice and big with no problems, considering they are anti-social and aggressive. The perfect home, and I couldn't be happier for him. I call him him, because he's grumpy like my old man. Please not, I am closing this thread, feel free to pm me if you want to.

 

Re-opened due to the people who thought he was a saltwater eel and me refusing to let them leave with him.

 

They also lied, he was going into a tank with a Lionfish.

 

He has no problem eating, he had shrimp when I got him, he ate my tetras, and he accepted earthworms today. He has an appetite for a king, considering I read they only eat every 3 or so days...

 

With the eating the problem I'm thing is the same as what happened to my loachs at 1st the malawis don't let the good settle at the bottom let me find out from the guy at the pet shop what he thinks and if it's available tomorrow I'll come get him

 

just make sure he isn't going to end up eating your fish, or vice versa. Remember, he gets REALLY REALLY BIG.

 

He is jumping out the small tank now, if you can fetch him ASAP(tonight or tomorrow morning), you can have him for Malahaha. I am going to try him in my old sump. It is clean. Don't worry.

 

No one has picked him up yet. He is still available. Just letting you guys know.
