100% - and one see this over and over ... grow-in for that guys that do competition scaping is more about grow to trim to achieve the vision vs our idea of grow to grow so that one can grow more the day after.

Never thought the convicts would have so much plant elements going in around it .. here is some more inspiration http://www.adana.co.jp/en/pdf/aj/aquajournal_vol272_en.pdf

Saw one of these System Tertra 30's ... they are rather cool and clever. It moves you away from having to DIY a background to sculpturing layers, planting as the background.

YeS and so it goes but most of the aquascape guys i see on YouTube also have lots and lots at their disposal. I always liked the jungle looking tanks and even now everything i remove goes in my shrimp tank till i get my stand build and set up other tanks to keep the plants in

LFS stop .. got some marsh plants for the shelf .. think that is all for now .. still need to sort the spray bar out but then I need to let it sit for a while, lets see what dies and what thrives.

love the amount of condensation on the top glass.

Moved the light that contributes to the algae issues on 36 degrees to the convicts tank. It is on top of the glass covers so loosing some light intensity ... hoping it is enough shooting to the shelf since it does not have to go via loads of water.

Hmm looking at them lux reading .. this might be a bit low or spot on

    upload_2018-6-6_6-55-48.png
from old school info page https://fish.mongabay.com/plant_care.htm

anybody seen a better lux aquatic plant reference table somewhere?

    looking at indoor plants

    from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houseplant_care

I am concerned that the aquarium plant might fall into the survive slot.

Now milwaukee have a slightly different take on it.

    upload_2018-6-6_7-0-52.png

    see http://www.milwaukeeinst.com/aquariumlightmeasurement/

Just re read the thread on APC ... man missing the knowledge that wet had accumulated over the years http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/...aquarium-lighting-calculator-1st-draft-5.html RIP ...

Some of his work lives on at http://rotalabutterfly.com/light-calculator.php both for fertz and lights ..

All of this said the best plant lisr vs some sort of light allocation is on upload_2018-6-6_7-22-42.png

maybe you have a better list?

Keep finding a convict on the shelf - not dead - just stranded. Hmm might be the same one.

So had to put a barrier up ... well this that is the lowest spot for jumping.

Plan with the lights did not go according to plan, back to the drawing board.

That is just a the normal spray bar that ships with the canister, but the end stopper removed, I still need to sort the plumbing out on the tank today. Not sure if I want to leave the canister connected or just go for a simple power head arrangement.

At the moment every thing is staying wet ... splash, humidity or wicking (main reason why I am not using a Styrofoam background - more on this later).

    _HZAHN24IEmEg3yyDkJ6DbtPmtfu9DnzjBGvUE4nmI_LfOLYyLP2TdUV-HRNUB8ZN_PEA1jRDlui8dIMHw=w1683-h949-no.jpg
This is the furthest away form the splashes ... and it is also always wet.

Day went in a different direction, did manage to get om thin batting, added some colour.

Do need to go find some clips to secure it to the top.

Can always add more lose batting in the back if this does not wick well.

got some clips .. .they typically last a year in near the tank water surface.

Moved some wood around .. added a bit more for "platforms"

    Checked this morning.

Clearly the humidity is nearly as high as I expected ... and that things stay wet because of splashing. ( Wood on the left is still dry)

Took some of the moss mix form the lucky 13 pull and just did a spread on the wood in the tank, no clue what is going to take and what will die, time shall tell.

Rescued the same convict off the shelf .. had to drop the water level. Then the splash pattern changed.
