What about hatchet fish? They can cost a a bit of cash but are pretty cool little fish.

I've seen this. They are cool fish. Altum has a few of them.

Also agree with the penguins. I had some and they were always near the top.

Dunno man. Never had one but I recall my dad telling me that they eat others. Correct me please.

Haha, the butterfly fish is a no-no. My dad and I have had before, and small fish like danios and neons just started disappearing. They are suited for tanks with lots of surface plants and don't like bright light. They enjoy bloodworm or small feeder fish.

They will eat anything that can fit into their mouths and in a community tank that is a lot... Plus they are the Harry Houdini of the aquatic world. Had 1 escape from a 16mm filter pipe hole 17cm above the water surface... The only hole in the tank

Both Pencils and Hatchets are slightly more demanding fish... G'luck if you decide to go with either of them...

Uhm...then all I can think of is some Glass Bloodfin Tetra's - they tend to shoal together in the top third of the tank... gets to a reasonable size too....
