Thanks a mil. You can use tubes between 4000-8000k I would rather do a trip to the lamp house see you are in krugersdorp. They are just off Marlboro drive in a business park. Best range is 6500 and 8000

@hviviers75 I would add a aquaglo to kill the yellow a bit and make the colours on the fish stand out more. Its powerglo yellow now. Doesnt look bad its just so yellow.

Yes thats what I use. Just a small tube to offset the yellow a bit. Mine had 2 powerglos but that made my ocd go crazy hahaha so added a aquaglo and the ocd went away.

Guess what? My floglo tube is all fine I noticed the on/off switch was stuffing around nearly bought a new tube. I also replaced the starter on the ballast. Might have been both you will never know. So now the floglo tube balances out the light in the tank no more yellowish anymore. Will post pics later again. Looks sweeeet. Waiting for water to clear again after my water change.

Nice one. The yellow really kills the colour on the wood and fish for me. I also kept my gro lux on my shrimp tank because of the yellow from the two cfl 6500k bulbs.

Forgot to say. Keep an eye on your plants over the next week. They are going to start moving nicely now. The vallis is going to run.

Yeah its back to the same color range I have been used to. The floglo does make a difference after switching it on. Theirs a immediate difference. Very chuffed tank nice and much brighter with the addition of the extra LED tube.

So here's the proof of the pudding.

Two x 6500k tubes showing a yellowish light.

And the perfection of two x 6500k LED tubes with a purple FloGlo tube smack in the middle. Pure perfection of Tranquility and calmness.

    Looks great!

I went to lamp house in Cape Town yesterday. They did not recommend installing the LEDs into the existing T-8 ballast. Apparently, the voltages are different. They said it would blow if I installed it.

Not quite sure what to make of that.

Thanks bud. Oh my word can you believe it. A led tube does not need a ballast. It gets direct 240v power. You just connect a kettle cord on the one side and you have lights on. So go get them bud

This is just personal preference, but I must admit the yellow does make it look more natural to me, I actually do like it more than with the floglo. That's just me... ;)

Yeah I personally like it more with the floglo. In real life it makes a huge difference looks like the fish are floating in thin air

@Whatsaname I think the yellow light tries to trick the brain to believe its more natural but subconciously you know its not. Sunlight is white light and the yellow tint we see in nature is actually the tannins in the water not the light.

The closest I've seen to sunlight colour wise is the led spots I have.
