If we were next door neighbours I could chuck plants over the wall

I have every single thing needed for my river / hillstream/ whatever tank except for the 2 minor details still under construction: tank and stand!

But ok... can either get myself worked up, or accept the reality and be a bit patient. Have chosen the latter.
But would’ve been the ideal opportunity to set up a tank!

@DoubleDutch can totally see that it’s right up your ally. What would you fill this tank with? Corys (seeing that you’re the Cory King) or hillstream species?

I've long been thinking about an hillstream tank. Our tanks are usually a "little" smaller than your ones (the biggest in the world).

Think I should have 2 of these tanks hahaha. One hillstream and one South America river tank.

Tank is good and cycled now:D, have to find some new lights though, I got some LED's but one of them is already working at like half strength really poor quality?, really disappointed and now with the lockdown cant get anything...think I will be looking for some T5's or maybe LED spotlights as soon as this lockdown is over.
At the moment I only have some MTS and rams horn snails in there...

Great, happy to hear it’s going well and you’re basically primed for adding livestock.
Do you plan on adding the danios etc first or whatever you can get your hands on first?
Lights ought to be easy to change out, I would imagine?

I will most likely add the danios and white clouds first and then see how long it takes to get the hillstream loaches and gobies...cant wait:rolleyes:
The lighting is all DIY so not too much of an issue there...I was just hoping to have a good layer of algae by now, so that will delay the purchase of the loaches.

Get some LED tubes off takealot if you want algae to grow fast. It takes a month or 2 to get going but then it grows a lot

Add a lot of red light - it assists with algae growth. But it may end up making your tank look pink if too much is used in combo with white light. You could always run red light when you arent there and white when you want to view

I can't link you to the ones I'm using. Seems they have taken it down due to the lockdown. Sorry.
