Very. This guy is still small and the tank is full of rocks with very small gaps in between. It looks awsome when you see sticking out his head and resting in between them. I was totally taken back by it.

 

It's good to see that brackish morays are becoming more avaliable Are you keeping yours in brackish at the moment, Shakes?

 

Iv seen a mermaid. Does that count as a rare fish?

 

Hi SalmonAfrica. The LPS where I bought it from had them in fresh water. So Im adding marine salt slowly to the tank and turning it brakish. Bit scared of dropping it straight into brackish water, might be a sudden shock to the eels system. See you also have an eel, post some pics, would like to see the way you've setup your tank. I've been reading on them and they also have alot of personality to a point you can also hand feed them at a risk.

The bigger of the two is around about 60cm (never taken him out to measure), while the smaller is probably just under 40cm.

 

back on topic I saw a red arowana at a shop . it was a juvenile and cost around 400 rand .
where where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

did you see a red arowana ?
how do you know it was a red ?
did it look like a silver arowanas body shape or the jardini and asian body shape ?
and if it is a true red there are about 2 zeros mising on that price
normal price for a red is about $3000 and up .

Most unusual fish ever to have graced my collection was (Blacklisted Fish) other than that a black ghost knife which not altogether rare at 35cm was an impressvive and not commonly seen specimen. Also Apistogramma hongsloi.

I saw some freshwater sole here in Cape Town a few months ago.

 

Saw a Pearl Scale Arowana at a LPS in Pretoria - think it was going for about R800 if I can remember. About a 200mm long fish.

I also thought these were blacklisted, so I checked!
