From looking at your tank im sure you could go up to about 5000l/p, with head loss you might be looking at about 3000l/p. You'll will need to check on the box of the pump to see the head loss. The lifetech pumps at builders are very good i got the AP3500 in my sump.gives me about 2000l/p at 1.6m. but i found if i had the water running into the tank like yours dose i got a whirpool effect but its easily remedied with the addition of a spraybar.

Their effect is not relatively small. Put a T piece on the end of your pump and see the difference in flow at the top.

Also, not all pumps are equal. Some of the small Eheims will outpump bigger Chinese pumps

If you're in JHB I've got quite a few different spare pumps you can borrow to see what flow rate suits your tank. I've got like 1000lph/2000lph/3000lph/4000lph and 7000lph so suggest you try 3/4/7.

why not try rory's pumps to see which pump is right for you.and then when you buy it you know you got the right pump and you will be happy with it.

why are you aiming for a higher return pump?
is it to increase flow rate through your sump?
is your heater in your sump?
do you have any other flow in your tank?
is the sump your only means of filtration?
sorry for all the questions :)

    1. I need a better flow in the tank + I just want 1 pump.
    2. Also increase flow in sump.
    3. I have a 700L powerhead which is cooked.
    4. I only have a sump as filteration
The pump that I have is on the borderline. What do you think Rio pumps?

i would suggest the lifetech pumps as well, very good pumps and they run extremly quite, i have had no problems with mine, haliea is also a very good pump but once you get to bigger flowrates like 4000/5000 lph the pumps generate alot of heat.
Rio is also an excellent pump
