My sister in law from NYC planned to fly out today (after 3 weeks here) but her COVID test came back positive last night. She has no symptoms.

So today the lot of us, including my other sister in law & her family, who are also staying here, will get tested and we’ll self isolate

    What a pain :(
That's the one thing that I don't understand about Covid. Some people die from it, while others don't show symptoms

Has your sister in law been vaccinated ??

@A new day in SA a false positive is highly likely and a normal thing. It's good that you guys are being cautious and to be honest I'd be really scared if I were in your place too.

I hope you guys test negative and if you need anything, do shout out

No, when she arrived she said as far as she understands it doesn’t include the SA strain but if she gets it she won’t get very sick.

Haha oh gosh. Hope the little man is doing good though.

I'm really keen to know how it's going to work with regards to your sister in law travelling back. We're coming in July and this is our worst fear

If she tested negative it wouldn’t have been an issue. If today’s retest is positive too she needs to stay here for ten days and get a negative test result before flying.

Edit: actually she says after 10 days she’ll get a doctors note saying she’s recovered. No retest at that point because apparently one can still test positive even though you’ve recovered and are not contagious anymore

Thanks the biggest concern is for my father in law (with the heart condition). He tested negative on Monday (before his angiogram) but because he is pretty weak already he is at high risk

I see. So we should definitely book with a flexible 10 to 14 days before returning. Thank you for this it gives me a little idea of how to book. I still need to quarantine for 14days elsewhere before coming back do will do Egypt or Namibia. But that means this 10 days must be added to that 14.

I really hope he gets well and yes he is most vulnerable right now given his condition
