Well, finally happened despite my best efforts - found one of my Amano shrimp eating a nice looking green jade neo. Do not like.
Amano was a berried female, and while I know they can become ravenous, I've fed more than usual, including protein.

They're huge though, likely fully grown, but just mention it as a warning. And in future I'll try and buy only males, which stay smaller and appear to be less aggressive.

Sho that’s quite a story and expensive loss... are you 100% sure the amano actually killed it or might it have been scavenging?

When I drop food in, they race around and often half 'grab and fumble' nearby neos before throwing them aside and finding whatever piece of food they're actively seeking out, so yeah. Best guess is a literal take down, obviously encouraged by their being pregnant and hungry.
Besides their algae related benefits, I quite loathe them haha. And they break the sense of scale on my nano tanks.

Hope you had a great trip away!

Thanks, can really recommend it - this time we stayed in the Biesiesvlak section (basically glamping).
