Small milestone for me is I managed to go for my first light run after undergoing ankle reconstruction in March from a football injury.

Nice! It is so nice to be able to run after injuries - I have had both feet in moon boots for various reasons, always great to get active again

Bit of a fail in the QT :(

This morning saw the 3 diamond tetra actively hunt the teeny tiny little khulis as if they’re bloodworms. Not sure if they managed to catch /hurt one or more of them.

Just added driftwood and every pebble I could lay my hands on to give the khulis a chance.

Finally got around to mounting my staghorn fern to a piece of driftwood. Quite chuffed that it seems stable. Lots and lots and lots of fishing line.

I gave my anubais and some willow moss a citric acid bath. About 30 minutes afterwards I could already see the algae going pink. Also found out that citric acid really burns if you have cuts on your hands.

    Very nice.
Platyceriums (staghorns) are one of my fave ferns.
I have this species, Pl bifurcatum, and also a few I am growing from spores. But that will be a slow process.

Visited the Ceres-Sutherland-Karoo this weekend. Sunday afternoon, on my way home, loose stones from the gravel road punctured BOTH my rear wheel tyres at the same time. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with my wife and kids with no cellphone reception. Scary. Eventually a local farmer came to our rescue. All safe back at home in Brackenfell very late Sunday night. I need a car with bigger , stronger tyres…

Another thing I've noticed that people do, you know those newer suvs where you push a button and the boot closes automatically, or you press the key remote and it opens by itself?
I've noticed this happen a lot.
A person will be walking to their car, and open the boot long before they even get to the car with all the things inside the boot on a nice display. Then they load up the boot, push the button and walk away to go climb into the car. They're already sitting inside the car ready to go and the boot is still closing (the mechanism moves quite slow)
This is a very nice way for robbers to either grab stuff out or worse, stop it from closing and climbing into your car.
So if you have this nice convenient function on your car, please be careful! Rather stand by your boot when opening and closing because you honestly never know whose hiding or watching from where..

    This is very true.

We had it at my hockey club for a little while - players would arrive a little late, pop the boot and grab their stick and hit the button as they ran away, without looking back. As they got far enough away a crew was waiting to stop the boot, and they would just help themselves. Easy targets too because most people would leave phones, wallets and all that kind of thing in the car while they played and then grab it all after.

That luckily stopped pretty abruptly though - we had a visiting group of rugby players from somewhere deep in the Freestate.... Lets just say when the one guy turned back for something he forgot the slighter built crew weren't quick enough to get away :p

But I think with Lockdown and the financial struggles of so many, it is becoming more and more prevalent and also for "less valuable" things, like a bag of groceries. We all have to be that much more careful. I don't think its a purely South African thing though - I have heard of people getting knocked more in the UK and the States recently too. In all, if this whole virus thing is a conspiracy - they really did manage to bring the whole world to its knees in so many more ways than just finances.

*side note - I am not a conspiracy nut in the slightest. The aliens didn't tell me to add this line after, and nor did the ghost of Elvis. They are very talkative though so if you want to take them off my hands I can pass them on :p

@T. Guppy Sorry for the late reply. I was playing 5 a side football and the opposition player attempted to kick the ball at the same time as me and caught my ankle resulting in 2 of my ligaments to snap. So they had to put these 'tightropes' through my ankle with screws on either side to keep it in place. It's actually healed surprisingly well.

@Logz you're right, it's definitely not just here. We just don't hear the stories from over seas as much as we hear our own local stuff.
It's scary but just being more aware of your surroundings and a little bit more careful goes a long away.

Ouch that must've been really painful
Good news that it's healed so well! Ligaments and tendons are the worst for healing so that's definitely good news
