I'd been wanting eels for a while when I saw them at the local shop. Only got them because I knew they'd do well in my tank, even if they didn't want "normal" food, it's been running very naturally and it has a healthy colony of benthic fauna

Getting some of the fire/tyre track eels to eat can be a challenge.

About 18 months ago I got a 20cm fire eel from the LFS. After a month, and it still refusing to eat they kindly agreed to swap it for me. They replacement was literally nibbling my fingers within hours, and is about 3x the size of when I first got it.

    They are very nice

We tried twice with Tyre track eels about 4 years ago but they were very small and as @Reedfish said a nightmare to get to eat
We lost both of them on the two occasions and eventually we gave up

I had a beautiful fire eel years ago and have been tempted to get one but they true escape artists and with me running sumps i have been too scared they manage to get out where my pipes run so I keep looking the other way when i see them!

While on a short break yesterday. I noticed these things in my shrimp tank.

One guy on whatsapp said the egg looking thing might be a developed assassin snail egg and the worm thing might be planeria IMG_20200319_205001.jpg IMG_20200319_191754.jpg IMG_20200319_191751.jpg IMG_20200319_191821.jpg IMG_20200319_204947.jpg

Planaria have a very distinctive triangular / arrow shaped head. Can’t see it clearly on the pic, is it there?

Two more confirmed cases of Covid in Melrose Arch where I work. The place is a ghost town at the moment.

I found out (after I finished the work) that the office I was in yesterday had two cases. Both in the area I was cleaning (they weren’t there luckily). Fortunately the chemicals we use are strong enough to kill pretty much everything

That's crazy. Apparently stellenbosch is a ghost town now. Almost all of the students have gone home.

    The flat worm is Planaria.
The other thing that looks like an egg appears to be a freshwater limpet, or a baby pond snail.
No Planaria knock out the Planaria as well as the snails.
If you have Nerites or Assassins, remove them from the tank, as the No Planaria will kill them as well.
