Woke up yesterday to 4 of 6 tiger barbs dead. Shortly(12hrs) after a 45% wc and a few days since co2(3bps in 165l heavily planted) was added.
Many questions and many tests later I'm thinking either really dodgy tap water or less likely co2 od.
I have added a drop checker and have been monitoring hourly, testing an hour after each phase, lights off no co2, backlight and c02 and then full light and co2.
I noticed concerning high gh and kh built overnight, was getting inconsistent readings of chlorination across tests which was odd.
Kh and gh dropped to near perfect once backlight and c02 kicked in.
Drop checker hasn't made it past a mild blue in 12hrs so I strongly doubt c02 was the cause as initially assumed.
Nitrates, nitrites and ammonia have not measured high once across all testing

Oh blimey that sucks, sorry to hear! What type of dechlorinator do you use? I believe Seachem Prime is the best.

Sometimes they add more chlorine and chloramines than usual to tap water if there’s an issue with water quality...

Currently using safe, I strongly suspect that's the case. Got slack and my poor barbs suffered the consequences, should have tested tap water before. Never been an issue, didn't think to retest the source

I think some folks use a slightly higher dose of Prime just in case of a sudden increase in chlorine and chloramines in the tap water.
Still sucks. I don’t test my tap water before a wc either.

I am almost certain its the tap water and more than likely higher levels of ammonia in the tap water than usual. Test your tap water for ammonia. I would mot be surprised if it ita between 0.4 and .06.

Used to have planaria in the 65L but realise I haven’t seen any lately. All I can think of is that the White Cloud Mountain minnows ate them... Is this possible/plausible?

Planaria often dies off if it doesn't have food

Picked up an interesting little 30l quarantine tank. Have my 6 new tiny tiger barbs in there. Cycled sponge and cycled media in the hob. Think this will make a really cool nano scape long term.
Water is from the 165l and wood I added for some cover has added some tannins[IMG]

Best is the gf sent me the link
I get the feeling 30l is just too small for quarantine long term, can't waste it. Just have to plant it

Decided to dye my hair today. I left the dye in for two whole hours. No colour change. Apparently I have dye retardant hair.
