I assume the waste water would be very mineral heavy aot. Can it be used in other aquariums at all, eg adding a bit to mineralise water for African ciclids? Or just for washing purposes or to flush toilets? Not sure that I’d like to irrigate the garden with it but don’t really know.

I let it flow into the swimming pool. That way it keeps the pool filled and chlorinated.

I wouldn't use it for fish, but watering the garden, flushing toilets, washing dishes etc I would think it's fine.

I've heard of some people using it to water house plants - the extra mineral content apparently does them wonders

One of the reasons I have decided not to invest in a RO unit, is the water wastage.
Even with high pressure units that produce 5000 litres per day, the wastage is about 1:1.
Smaller under the counter units have a wastage of 1:2 or even 1:3, depending on the water pressure.
That means that for every 100 litres of RO water produced, you waste 200 - 300 litres of water.
If we had a pool or a large garden it may make more sense, but living in a townhouse with a small garden, the 100 litres or so I remove with water changes is generally enough for most of the container plants we have.

And also, depending on the quality of the tap water, the filters might need replacing fairly often. Could be a costly exercise.

My Banjo fish (Larry) decided to show himself today! Haven't seen him in a while, so I was quite excited to see him today out and about (well not really about, he just sat there )
He usually buries himself in the pfs and all I see is his tail sticking out or the sand pushed up into a mound, and he only comes out at nighttime when everyone's gone to bed (so no lights are on lol) IMG_20191124_191234_1.jpg

Very! He hides a lot amd doesn't do much when he isn't hiding but very interesting! He's extremely docile too. When I'm cleaning the tank I literally have to pick him up to move him so I can clean without hurting or bumping him

You don't! I've only ever seen them at wild on pets
