A couple of factors made me change my mind. I stay at the coast so i can get water and some fish from the ocean. And in my opinion its just so much more rewarding and colorful.

You shouldnt get water from the ocean. That is a bad idea. I am not a marine expert but I once considered it and did a lot of research and I read many times this is not good. The sea water is full of microorganisms and when not in the ocean they die and cause problems. Also sea water is full of pollution and stuff from all the heavily polluted freshwater streams near the shore and therefore you would have to harvest water a few km's from shore.

OH WOW, OH WOW, OH WOW!!!!!!

    That looks incredible.

I must admit, Marine is seriously tempting me at the moment. I have heard that it is a real PITA but every time I see all of the little critters you can have in a marine tank my mind starts to wonder.

I must say the initial setup for me was challenging especially getting 800l of natural saltwater and I had to do it twice. I never regretted going marine but if I had to start again I would have gone smaller tank.

I have had FW tanks in the past but none of it compares to Marines. Well that is my opinion.

@tiaan21 I agree with you but if you play your cards right and you set it up properly you can BS a novice into believing a Tang/Malawi setup is a marine aquarium, I did it time and time again LOL and that my friend you simply cannot do with any other freshwater aquarium!

And I am at he brink of being converted after reading up ALOT about marine aquariums and a lot of people make I sound harder than it is, it does require more attention than freshwater but not to the extent that it becomes a burden. I will just NOT attempt turning my 2m tank into marine I will rather settle for something like a 1.2m.

Your tank looks awesome BTW! do you have a calcium reactor for the coral? And are those goldies in the full tank shot?

I agree with you that a few people make it sound worse than it is. At the moment I don't have a calcium reactor nor dosing anything at this stage. Just doing water changes with nsw to try and keep trace elements in check..... Controversial subject "water changes".

I am however seriously considering dosing certain chemicals as soon as I get more corals and when my tank is properly matured.

    Yes those are goldies.

Good idea starting with the 1,2.

Thanks for the compliment. Really dig my tank at the moment.
