    @Stalker nice pics. Also having a D90 but unfortanetly still have to buy myself a macro lens. Also prefer the manual settings above the auto settings, doing part time photography as well. By the way, good healthy looking fish you got there.

    @Stalker,

    I am sure you were using a flash on the last couple of photos, because the light composition is very good.

    Is that correct ?

    I used 2 photograthy studio lights with reflector umbrellas. The problem when you setup a studio is that it amplify everything and that is why you can see the water marks so clearly.

    Have you ever considered taking the photos at night with only the tank lights on and all other room lights switched off without using the flash.

    I get very natural colours this way, where a flash can normally cause over exposure.

    Whats your opinion @Stalker ?

    @gdt78 that is how I have been taking my pictures, still learning how to use the new macro lens and function on my brother's SLR (my SLR is one of those VERY old Pentax manual cameras using film not digital and taking fish photos Ive learnt digital is the way to go).

    Even when I have polished my glass I sometimes see swipe marks on it when taking pics with a flash, without the flash I have been seeing less imperfections on my glass.

    To use your tank lights is going to be the best as it avoid reflection of the glass. The dark room is going to make a difference as your cameras matrix meter will only read the light within the tank and isn't going to try and compensate for the background light. If your iso setting is set to auto it can read the light the wrong way. For people who can chande the ISO it is best to put a white plastic board into your tank and set the iso that is you take a photo that the board must be white, not yellow or not blue. If it is yellow or blue your ISO is to warm or to cold. After the setup of your iso you can start taking photos. Always make sure your light (flash) is behind the glass your are going to take the photo.

    @Stalker,

    I think you should start a dedicated south african photographic forum for aquatic photos.

    Then we can all learn more about taking professional aquatic photos.

    I talked about ISO, my mistake, it is suppose to be white balance. White balance is important as it can make a difference on the colout of your fish.

    Most people got cameras but they doesn't understand what is all the fing meaning on their cameras. It is important to know what to use for what you are going to photograth.
