    No, these are young plants. Ranging from 50cm to a meter
    I think it has something to do with the soil I am using. Either too high ph, even though I add plenty off peat, or there is some sort of pathogen killing the roots :(

    Proteas typically need acid soil, low in nutrients and well drained (sandy), FULL sun and very importantly high air flow to thrive else they are prone to fungus / rot.

    That’s why I unfortunately can’t grow them in my garden even though they would’ve grown naturally here a century ago.

    In Dutch a kombuis is a kitchen on a ship.
    Makes sense if all the Dutch arriving by ship in SA.
