@rednox - if Im not mistaken its the matrix at the bottom and then the purigen - remember to regen the purigen every now and then so that it keeps polishing the tanks water properly.

@Frank007301 - always a pleasure to help We need to figure out what to put in the smaller tank and start getting the fake plants I think

 

@Wyvren I think i am gonna go with the real plants. i think the light is enough. You will have to come have a look.

@rednox - Purigen needs to be regenerated (cleaned) after awhile. How long depends on whats in your tank but it will go dark and stop absorbing. There are instruction on the bottle if I'm not mistaken telling you how to do this. It involves unscented bleach and dechlor. HTH

 

You also need to take the bleach out of the Purigen. You can do this by leaving it in a mixture of Seachems Safe (http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Safe.html) and water until it does not smell like bleach any more.

 

So, I have a little bit of a problem. I have a waterfall flowing from the smaller tank to the bigger tank. I used mesh to prevent the fish from flowing over and becoming lunch but it has not been working really. Last night i saw that the angles had gone to the bigger tank.

Here is the problem. I am worried that if i put more mesh up i might restrict the water flow too much and the smaller tank will over flow. What do you guys think should i plug the hole and not have a waterfall or should i just make both tanks into predator tanks? The smaller tank will just have smaller predators big enough to not go through the hole. So much of what i should do??? lol

 

What's the size of the openings in the mesh currently?

 

Probably about 5mm maybe less. Will take a pic this evening. I think what might be happening is that they get close to the mesh get stuck there and then jump out and over onto the dinner plate.

 

Ok, so unless you have angel fry they are not fitting through the mesh :blink1:. Does your spraybar face the waterfall directly? Maybe aim it at the glass to slow the movement down?

Some updates to my tanks. Have been away for a while but i am back now. Sort of. lol.

 

Also just added a breeding pair of Long fin Bristle Noses, one is albino and the other is normal. I also got some smallish discus. Will post some pics later.

I have a quick question. Can i add discus in that tank with angels? I have been told to take my angels out. I got two discus yesterday will add more at the end of the month.
