I have no clue about keeping freshwater shrimp. I guess one can't keep them with just about any sort of tropical fish... Loaches will eat them, right?
What other fish is safe to keep together with these shrimp?

    cheers

Rule of thumb is anything with a mouth big enough to swallow a shrimp will eat it or at least try. I've kept them with chocolate gourami, tetra, Rasbora, Ottos, ancistris and many more.

Sad thing is that I lost another discus this morning. Dropsy is a biatch

That sounds very odd. Usually, Dropsy is caused by very poor water conditions, and it very rarely affects more than one fish at a time. I know that discus are prone to Bloat, but that's not caused by the same thing. Bloat is usually caused by feeding frozen foods almost exclusively to discus. Well, that's one of the causes. But dropsy and discus? I have never experienced anything like that before.

    Think it was dropsy.
Lost 3 discus in less than two weeks.
They showed classic signs. Bloated undercarriage and unable to swim right side up. Kept on doing backstroke. The one hit a rock in the tank and opened up his side so had to put him out of his misery.

That's bloat, not dropsy. Dropsy will have the scales protruding, making the fish look like a pine cone. You have just described a classic case of Bloat.

Got a Peppered Cory and three Giant Danio, was really excited about the Danios, as although their inexpensive and easy to keep I almost never see them in LFS's, wonder why?
Unfortunately mine don't seem to be the most genetically beautiful as one has a slightly downwards pointing caudal fin and the other one's body outline is humped behind the head.
    Very dirty glass pic's.

Really sorry man. No guarantee that you could have saved them anyway, but if you have similar problems again get hold of me or one of the discus experts on here, there are things you can do. Epsom salts and lots of water changes being my go-to remedy. Sending lots of sympathy dude.

OK, lightening up the mood here... 3 Erithistes jerdoni. 36dd134e057bec7b60706313a794d7ae.jpg Awesome little guys but haven't seen them since the first day :amuse:

Thanks a lot man, one of the oldest fish I have.
Bought him when he was still small along with another one of the same size, they were very friendly with each other and liked to play in the outflow. Little did I know they become more territorial and aggressive as they age. They both had hiding holes, but eventually this one bullied the other one into submission, and it would just stay hidden and hiding all day. So I moved it to a smaller 2ft tank with his own cave, of which he was very protective and no guppy was ever allowed inside or even on the "stoep" haha.
For a period he became very reclusive, hiding all day not even eating and I would only see cleaned algae trails by day on the glass as he fed each night. He was a superb algae eater/cleaner. Unfortunately he died in the end due to my idiocy. I left a cantaloupe rind in the tank overnight and it clogged the filter and fouled the water causing an ammonia spike, by morning all the fish were gasping at the surface and he was belly up, very sad.
    Here's a pic from 1 year ago.
