Came to this thread and realised that the pearlweed is still floating in the tank and I completely forgot about it.. another way forums are a help in keeping track of a tank. This tank is absolutely nuts.. livestock is the pair albino Cory's 2 panda Cory's and one bronze Cory and tons of shrimp. For some reason this tanks unmaintained, only top ups in direct sunlight. Lights very inconsistent because the plug is visible and the SO always unplugs it for something else yet this tanks been very forgiving. Zero algae, massive plant growth and even though there's no clean up crew other than the shrimp it's showing no signs of algae on the glass

So this tank has been redone and repurposed for new inhabitants that I think is the first on this forum. I'm waiting for their arrival and I will begin a new thread for the new tank. Just need to get confirmation from one of the admins of they are not blacklisted in SA first. Watch this space

I've noticed crabs are starting to become more common here too now

These were available to me without a need for order. Took the other ones instead because of their intense colours

    I have never kept crabs.
But do they not need a small land area so they can leave the water from time to time ?
Or are some species permanently aquatic ??

I thought most crustaceans aside from the odd shrimp species are black listed ??

I believe dwarf crayfish are ok, not sure though and I haven't checked recently. And if I'm honest the crabs I've seen never have a price or name displayed

So the 2020 list doesn't have any freshwater crabs listed, and there's a few freshwater crayfish that you can't keep, and 2 that you can keep with permits.

So I just got a call from the delivery guy at the pet store I pre ordered from and he says he will be here in the next hour.. really excited about their arrival and also really excited to show you guys the work I've been putting together this last few weeks in anticipation of the arrival of these little critters. I will most likely start a new thread as I feel that I will be able to share the journey better that way.

    Watch this space. . . .

That's why I went for the Mexican crayfish because they are compatible with community fish and they don't damage the plants. They are doing really well in my planted tank and I just did a new tank for them all and they now have more space to walk around so this added a whole new dynamic to the tank
