@boebie - I was gona go the carpet way in the beginning. but you need a hightech tank for that, with glosso growing sideways instead of up. And i dont wana go there, well not now.

@shihr - You just gave me an awesome idea! I can still get the poolfilter sand, and do two separate substrates, like in the pictures...then thatd also save me from getting another bag of flourite

from the top itd look like this, if you can understand my design....

yes that will work :) just make sure that you obscure the flourite though else it'll look abit odd.. also, try leave a thin layer of flourite under the PFS.. so if u do want to go high tech later the carpet plants have some nice gravel to work on..

    SEMI-FINAL UPDATE - Tank Completed

    SEMI-FINAL UPDATE:
So my tank is finally complete!! Everything is setup and done. Now I can relax and let it mature...
I will upload proper high res pics in a months time OR when i get my new camera OR when i feel plants have grown sufficiently.
    Final1.jpg
Here it is. I have applied my planting to all rules i could remember. I must say it looks stunning.
If only i had a good enough camera :(

My Background has really done its part and was worth the 3 weeks of patience.

A Close-Up of the BogWood and grapevine structure.
I plan to grow some Christmas moss on it.

    platycave.jpg
And the fishies love the small cave and are already making use of it.
Sometimes there are 6 of them squashed in that small hole :)

A small note of thanx to everyone that has helped me come this far. Thanx to all you guys that are following this thread, your comments are always welcomed and have proven to lead to great accomplishments. Special thanks to Walter (@Toshi) and Rob Tiedt(@SilverFox) for supplying me with plants and equipment.

    Keep on Swimming!!

hey man, it looks really good! :)

one suggestion though, take it or leave it, why not have the vines hanging into the tank from the top back right corner? it'll look super natural? will look like roots of a tree coming into the tank? or even a suspended branch?
