The light was R150 on the dot and includes the light tube.

Just be careful, it multiplies quite rapidly

My tank has only been running for about 10days now and new grasslings are already popping up.

Its a PL 11w. The first photos I was using a 10000k tube, but Vis recommended I go back to the 6500k tube, so the last 5 photos show the 6500k tube.

For a larger tank you can fit the PL 18w tube, but mine is only 11L so 11w is more than enough.

I've found another one, this pic really makes me happy. :)

I cant wait till everything fills out, but hopefully after bumping up the co2 production this week, it will happen a bit faster.

    Just a Quick question:
What plant is the plant right at the back behind the rock on the right in the pic. Looks like Vallis, but I'm not sure.

well u have to see.. if it grows too long and starts to shadow ur other plants, ur other plants will defn not do well.. so if i were u, yes i'd trim them but only when i feel they are starting to block out the light for the others..

I think it'll be fine, its right at the back of the tank. The anubias worry me a bit though, they take a lot of light. :)

wheres the anubias? i dont see it in ur pic..

also rem that anubias are slow growing plants that dont need alot of light :)

Vallis can really cover the entire top of ur tank.. u'll see what i mean ;)

    Hi Ruan

Any update on the Brazillian Micro sword grass? I am looking for some grass and do not want grass that grow like the tenellis and intertwine and grow sloppy.

I'll take some pics, the tank is filling out nicely.
The only issue I find with the brazillian is that it grows rather tall and doesnt really spread to the sides.

I read on another forum that you need to trim it quite regularly to make it spread sideways.

My new tank is quite tall so would not really matter. Trimming does help lateral growth.

The plants have grown nicely, I just wish the hairgrass would grow lateraly, but all in good time...

LOL, the CO2 setup is bigger than the tank:

Just for comparison, this was one week ago:

And the current state, one week later:

Oh and I've moved the CO2 from an airstone to the intake of the HOB. Its Much better now. The CO2 bubbles are much finer, some dont even reach the surface, they get stuck on the leaves of the plants.

Yeah, hornwart is popping up EVERYWHERE. I think there might have been hornwart spores/seeds in the substrate(Got the substrate from a from with hornwart in his tank.). I was very alarmed to wake up one morning with a few extra plants.:bigsmile:

be careful putting co2 pipes onto the intakes of a filter.. bubbles may damage the impeler- another other really NB point is that the bennificial bacteria in ur filter depends on oxygen to survive and break down fish waste in the tank..

adding CO2 into the filter is a good way to diffuse CO2 into the water but also a bad thing for your filtration..

rather put the airstone near the "waterfall" area of your hangon filter so when the water rushes down, it pushes the co2 down and it can more readily dissolve into the water.. :)

Yes, I get what your saying, but this is a planted tank, if it sees a fish, it wont be anytime soon. I'm just waiting for the plants to really fill out so I can pop my internal filter back in the tank. that way the plants can hide the internal filter which will be doing most of the bio filtration.

I do a 25% water change every week, so I reckon a little betta should be fine(if I ever get one.)
