As @SalmonAfrica suggested, yes, try to do daily water changes 15% to 20%. How are the fishies doing now?

Have you had your water tested yet? What are your readings?

Hi guys I have done a water change again 20% most of the fish seem to be okay my living stone is really fat but not just under the body don't think it's bloat and his swimming around convicts still protecting they spot yellow lab just swims in the bell I'm not sure why because his not always sitting like before. So this would be my 3th water change can I do it again tomorrow I have not fed them as yet should I feed them ? Thanks for all the help everyone. So I was thinking can I put my own filter media in the HOB filter do I really need the last part where it's just a plastic grid I could put sack of carbon those white rings and wool?

No. If it looks like salt sprinkled on the fish then it's Ich. You can treat it by raising the temperature to 32 degrees for two weeks and it will go away. You need to increase airation in the tank when you do this. I think you should wait a little bit for the rest of the problems to settle a bit more before you do this though. Just keep an eye on the spots and if they are increasing a lot then treat as suggested.

I don't know if this might help. I personally think the original problem was cosed by chlorine and not ammonia. remember we have crap water in Gauteng and they tend to adjust the chlorine at times. The ammonia cycle in a new tank should spike at about 27 days and because of this I would strongly suggests that you get any for of bacteria in a bottle, I use Microbe-lift Special Blend combined for Night Out but there are other products available, as mentioned. IMO this whould help as you are basicly cycling your tank with fish in it, this might cause the ammonia to spike earlier. Do as Hawk suggested for Ich as it works and you don't need to ad other chemicals to the water which can cause more stress to the fish.

Thanks yeah I also think it could be chlorine because after adding anti chlorine things seem to get better the yellow got even more active just now. I got a air stone going my hob filter is giving strong ripples on on side of the tank and more soft on the other side if I stand above the tank I can see the ripples on the other side does it need to be stronger and how ?

Are there any noticable problems with the fish other than being upside down which is never a good thing unless it's an upside down catfish? Any bloating, markings, fin rot/frayed? Maybe post a pic so we can see.

Unfortunately they probably took a fair amount of abuse/damage whilst you were battling with the tank. Don't buy any more fish until you know for sure that your tank is properly cycled.

Can you post a picture of the affected fish, and your filter? I filled my HOB with ceramic rings and put a filter sponge on the intake to filter out the larger particles.
