@jpvd007 I don't know about on your side of the world but there is an LFS in Boksburg that has a tank full of them.

Strated off with 4 Bolivian Rams and added one more. A pair have spawned twice, but no chance of any fry surviving. I have added another Bolivian Ram and six Ramirezis. It seems as if there are two pairs of Ramirezis, they stick together but have not spawned yet.

I took over the rams from @Vis this weekend. They are still acclimatising but it seems like the male went and picked the most open flat piece of rock in the tank. He does however also hover around the back end of one of my driftwood pieces. Just a pity that the angels frequent that spot a couple of times a day.

Lol! I know @Henk Hugo but felt that I would be rude if I didn't include everybody that had posted in this thread. Anyhow, you have plenty knowledge to share and anybody that wants to make a contribution is more than welcome.

Ok i have 3 bolivian rams getting along quite nicely think its 3 males they way they carry on.they can look really colourful at times but still cant compare looks wise to the blue which i would really like to get but the fickleness of them is putting me off getting some.

@oscar freak The Ram Cichlid Community is for those of us interested in Rams as a whole so join and post pics, comment, etc.

I understand your feelings on Blues but I am giving them a go to try and introduce more local bred specimens that are not hormone treated into the market.

Very interested in this new 'group'.

Ramirezi have always been my favourite species, though recently I have also become increasingly interested in Discus.

They are stunning in both shape and colour, and personality wise they are incredibly fun to watch. Certainly a challenge to keep well though, and very demanding in terms of water quality.

Last week I picked up two healthy / chunky looking male Blue Rams (definitely not German) here in the UK and put them in a tank with 6 females. I went back only two hours later and found one of the males had already paired up. The second male also found a partner the next day. Both pairs have spawned, but have done what so many young Ram parents do, and have eaten the eggs. They need a dedicated 'private' tank of their own to flourish, and this is my next project, with a small fish room (my first) in progress.

The original 'wild form' remains my favourite strain by far. I find the 'Baloons' repulsive, and I am not a fan of the 'Electric Blues' as I think they look like they have come from a science lab. I do also like the Golden Variety as good quality ones can look stunning, especially the males.

There is a hobbyist breeder here in the UK, who I know has successfully cross bred traditional blue rams with electrics and the results are stunning.

Here is hoping this group proves to be popular.

    Best wishes

    Mark

Hay Mark lets get some pics of our overseas tanks? I'd like to see what your rams look like in the UK.

Anyone know where to find good quality bolivian rams in the cape town area? Been quite a while since i've seen any, and I will shortly have tank space opening up, so would be interested in some.....
