Thanks Ammar. I'm giving them a week to see what happens. I just hope the old man can still do it, he is about 7 years old.

Desided that the Busemani's are too slow. They are still in their spawning tank but I place the 2 Kutubus in their own spawning tank to get things going.

I know. Added a slightly younger male, to the mix, to put some pressure on the old man.

LOL @Pierré Schoonraad how do u know it didn't happen while you were not looking?
can u actually spot the eggs?
from my research some go for 3 weeks in spawning tank.
so these guys apparently spawn after a good rain, so maybe increase water temp slightly followed by water change and live food?

Both tanks have eggs in them. Some got fungus though. Had the same problem with the first try. Removed all the eggs, with fungas on, last night.

Unfortunately if you don't see them spawn it is a 50/50 chance you take. This might actually be the reason why people use spawning mops which they remove and rellace with new ones every few days.

Eggs are very small but you can see them. It takes about a week to 10 days for fry to hatch. Some eggs will be eaten unfortunately. How much I don't know.

so would it be worth running 2 tanks per pair? with spawning mops being moved to a second tank every 3 days and maybe run an airstone with some of that methelyne blue for fungus? similar to what is done with angel eggs

im keen on boesmanies more than kutubus, although they are both amazing fish. kutubu males are great especially when they flash at the females.
    i will experiment with 2 tanks, i have 2 70L on standby.
can you post a pic of the eggs?

Update time. Sudenly 2 of thw fry desided that they are adding yellow body color to the mix. Have no idea if this is normal but I guess only time will tell.

Tried to get some decent foto's of the eggs but that is way easier to say than do so I will just post some foto's of fungus covered eggs. . In the last foto you might be able to spot the eggs, they are an amber color although they look clear on the foto.2dcfcdb6909d81e0c0a03a600411a035.jpgcd9f2dacbbb5618f174cb6364370f5b1.jpg3bdfed9cec07b1a7a01033953943d8a6.jpg

Very nice, hopefully they all pop. I bought baby rainbows that were gold colour thinking it was a different type of rainbow for my tank, 2 weeks later they lostvthe gold and turned red.
Not sure if this is similar. But still they are beauties
