Got an ok-ish foto of 1 of the fry today and took a short video of the feeding frenzy on micro worms.

No matter how many times you feed them per day. It is always the same.

Day 65. Still growing. The fry isn't that happy to be put into my Smurf glass for the foto. I guess it might have reached it teens in fish terms.

Still feeding the same and everytime the food hits the water it seems like they havn't eaten in days.0467723582da6b932f5f8013ccf04057.jpgcfbfba8ddb95eac34c7a3d77c56ce7d1.jpg

Looking good. Please remind me how many of the 112 have made it this far?

Unfortunately looking at the numbers this is a terrible efford by me. On my last count I got 29 which should make it about a 20% sucsess rate considering that there was a time when I counted more than 150.

It happens. You started with 3 correct? So rather look at it as a 1100 % increase. Gotta love statistics :D

True. Not bad for an original investment of only R75

    Hahaha I agree with @TheGrissom's stats !!!

For something so unexpected I think 29 is excellent

    They looking great
I know what you mean by always hungry, those acara babies of mine get so excited just seeing you next to the tank that you keep expecting the little brats to jump out the tank!

Depends on where you shop. I was extremely lucky to get the original ones at that price. Anthough with the R/$ exchange rate it won't improve in the future so we will have to get some strains in and breed them localy.

Very true Hendre. They breed in ponds and we in tanks. Most people buy when the price is right, no matter what quality they get

About 73 days into the grow out stage. They have come a long way during this time. Starting off at about 3/4mm fry they are between 2 and 2.5cm at the moment and still always hungry.

    Short video of them.

Very nice, so another 2 months and should be ready for sale? Unless u keeping them for further breeding. Ill read thru the thread again, learn from your experience,I'm setting up a couple thanks for boesemani and kutubus. They have both bred In my big tank, my red ones still haven't shown signs of breading.
