As I said... nice to have you back.. and the update

Sorry once again for the loss.... Thank God you had a batch of fry from him as at least although a set back, you will be able to carry on

Sounds like you have collected a few different species, hope you can find partners for them as that would be very nice

Hhaha, your Boesmani are like little breeding machines! Thats great

    Happy to be back.

Ja there is just no end to the Boesemani's. The weardest thing is that I don't prepare them for spawning. I just place them in the tank and it is as if they just know what to do.

The Kutubu breeding will take a while before it gets going again. Picked an awesome male but at the moment he is about half her size. Will defnitly take some more males and females from the last batch I have.

Update time again. Seems like I'm falling behind on almost all my thread.

Last batch of 36 Kutubu's went to the lfs on friday. I believe I have kept enough fry to get their breeding going again somewhere in the future.

Have 4 batches of Boesemani fry at the moment going. Kinda tough to feed them as all require different size of food. Keeps me busy with the pestle and morter.

I also took the two hybrits to the lfs as they were complete a holes in the 4ft. They harassed all the other rainbows, including the Boesemani that were twice their size. Peace and tranquility has been restored. I was expecting this behaviour from the reds and not them.

With any breeding there is culling that needs to be done. On every batch there are fry that lack behind on growth. It doen't look like there are any phisical problems with them, they just grow slower. To try and see if it might help to keep them longer, in a seperate tank, and see if they will grow. I took some of them and added them to the 4ft. I completely over feed this tank to make sure every fish gets his/her fair share. The small ones did get food so that was not the problem. At this moment they are 1/4 the size of the other ones out of the same batch. This proofs to me that it defnitly is a form of stunting that took place and isn't worth it, in the long run, to keep them going. Rather be harder on myself and do culling sooner to give the remaining fish a better future.

Looks like I will need to do updates more often cause everything I'm updating today is half a book of writing.

Got my hands on some small Red rainbows today. Hopefully got 2 males and 2 females. They have a bit of white spot and they actually were not for sale. Fortunately I know these guys for a few yeats now and convinced them that I won't hold them responsible as I know they are sick, I was able to catch my 4. Btw it wasn't the first time I had to catch my own fish or got asked by a customer if I work there. I think the only reason they let me catch my own fish is because I'm full of crap and want specific fish. Much easier for them to let me be and help 3 other customers while I catch 4 fish.

Thats awesome, im sure you will quickly sort them out

Good to see you catching up and things are looking good
I fully agree with the culling when necessary and take my hat off to you
Often breeders dont as they make a few more bucks by selling them to innocent buyers that eventually lose the fish
