I fully agree that folks have offered a tremendous amount of valuable info. If you could suggest a new thread title, we could always ask mods to change.

    I am not very creative.

    "The river journey"
    "hillstream river"
    "From glass to river"

I am sure someone on the thread will come up with a nice name or I would suggest making it functional so if someone search on Google about setting up similar project this thread would pop up.

    I like all of those!

    Also ‘our’ ‘hillstream’ tank.

‘Our’ cause it’s taking the whole community to set up this tank :)
‘Hillstream’ cause it will kindoff be one but not 100% biotope. At true Asian hillstream biotope would have very little, if any planting. And probably using only plants from Asia. Ill be using some plants from Asia (crypts, java fern), but also South America (swords), Africa (anubias, bolbitis), Europe (vallis) etc.

Just before lockdown was announced I’ve pulled plants from some other tanks to go in the river tank. Crypts have pretty much all melted.

Think I’ll use some Langa soil and plant them in this container to try and keep them going...

Do crypts always melt if you move them to new places?

At least when you get the stand and tank you'll know for sure it's completely set

Have every single detail needed for the river tank except for the tank and stand (both still under construction). Minor details

Trying to keep the plants alive through lockdown...

Yesterday planted the root plants in about 1/3 leftover used aquasoil (dry) and 2/3 new Langa, with about a cup of seeded gravel. I’d be surprised if the crypts recover, however the roots and crowns are still in tact, so perhaps. Couple of ramshorns. Adding Stability, Excel and Flourish Advance (trace & Phytohormones). Algae is going to be a challenge, will probably do a 50% daily wc.

The tub with epiphytes seems ok.

The plan is to totally dismantle this 45L tank, use the plants in the river tank, move the tank to the study to become a proper bare bottom QT away from my other tanks. But it will have to run as is through lockdown (our quarantine :)).

There are some plants that will come from the 180L but they’ll have to stay put.

Oh I would’ve had fun setting up this tank through lockdown :( but we gotta stay positive and grateful for what we have

But you did start something? You had some anubias and vallis etc? If you lived close by I could sort you out with some cuttings  just hoarding a bit at the moment to see what I’ll need
