But I am asking for your opinion if it would be better for me to block up those holes so it pumps all its volume through the filter media or leave it like it is so it creates some sort of current in the tank. As for the bubbles I will remove it once the tank is settled.

I suppose it'll be a trial and error really. The idea of it creating movement is good, helps with algae control... The water pouring back into the tank from the hood will oxygenate the tank...

You could try blocking it and see how it runs.. but if it is designed like this, you may find this will overflow your hood filter. I know with my Boyu the biggest issue I had with that filter is that when the sponge get's built up with gunk, and when the rings are dirty, the flow isn't always great, and the water overflows the hood.

    Word of warning Larch.

It seems these Jebo's ALL have a ridiculous design fault, where by when the filter clogs up a little it pushes the water out of the tank.

It's not bad enough to empty the tank over night or anything like that, but it was more than enough to damage my cabinet.

Good point I will leave it as is and see how it runs and I think there is more than enough water going through the filter media anyway. Should I put in a air stone with a air pump into the system or should I leave it out when I get the plants. Take note though not going to go fancy with plants and ferts going to be a low budget tank like my Oscar tank.

The water "dripping" into the tank from the filter is usually enough to oxygenate the water. Those airstones actually do very little for adding O2 into the water. So I would just leave it for now. If you like the bubbles visually, then put it in.

Ag that's okay its not a visual thing just had it in there because its a tank filled with new water out of the tap. Was going to remove it anyway.

Yeah read about it on the net, but I mean for R200 I picked up something pretty nice but I do have a plan. I am going to drill small holes just below were the filter compartment ends so when it does overflow it will go through those holes and back into the tank since both sides of the compartments aren't sealed so the water can run back into the tank.

Yeah, I initially drilled small holes in mine, and eventually just took about 1cm off each side plate, but my design is a bit different than yours.

Now since the powerhead/pump died, I don't use it at all.

Mine actually does have that 1cm off each side of the plate, but not going to chance it.

Bought a suction cup for my heater as it did not have one so no more flapping around in the current. Got 4 small plants (Want to add 2 large ones too). Also a pair of black rocks to add to my "dark theme". Will add them and post pictures later.

Okay so this is what it looks like after I added the rocks and the plans, obviously the two small plants in the back will be moved to the front when I pick up some bigger plants tomorrow. Wanted to add some hornwart from my other tank but it would make feeding problematic:

Thanks guys, think it would look better with some big plants in the background.

Get a shoal of Galaxy Rasboras! They look cool and have a very low bio-load...

You could move the Swords to the back, add some root fertilizer and let them fill the back ground. You may also have to remove some because they'll grow to big for your 40 l.

They aren't swords though. On they tank they were marked as "Nana" (most likely not correct) I got swords in my other tank they they definitely dont looks the same also these plants are tiny. Sorry not a big plant fundi I just bought what would look good in my tank.
