Okay so thanks for all the suggestions but I have a suggestion for my own suggestion, now all I need is your guys input on this, so I have some form of mesh, I now want to start a moss wall that will cut the one corner where the power head sucks water out of the tank and into the filter.

However with this there is some new questions, will the water flow freely through the moss, will this damage the moss in some way or another and will this actaully work??

    Kind Regards
    Hein

It helps alot if you ad pictures. Because we are all going to give different answers. You might have noticed that with your previous question.

Your idea might work. Only problem i would see is the moss actually trapping most of the dirt instead of your filter.

pleasure man. You can grow the moss on thick nylon string And then plant 5 or so Moss Strings in gaps infront of the filter inlet.
    That might work.

Im currently working on a DIY background that hides the filter with Polystyrene. Water gets to the filter through cracks and crevices.
Maybe you'd wana go that route?

There are nice canister type pre-filter sponges available at most LFS's (the size of a cooldrink tin)
I think that most Boyo powerheads use this type of prefilter.

pic of my power head, showing intake. Both items showed with it in the photo protect the propellars and keep fish out. The small tapered one comes with the power head. The filter is an add on.

Ok, here is pics of my power head,

    284532-JVP-101-embed.jpgJVP101-8-500x500.jpg

Now i have tried to put some filter sponge on the interior of the power head (at the tip where the water blows out), and yet every piece i put, no matter how thin, affects it so basically it doesnt blow water out straight, but out sideways. how else could i do this?

OK, so you want to do with PH in pic one what you did with PH in pic two?

Just attach one of the two attachments I showed in #29, or anything similar. Those diameters is pretty much standard and the LFS should have something that fit.

The guy you purchased it from probably have the attachment lying around at his home.

I do not see the post where you describe what you want to achieve. I only see #19, with a suggestion. Can you describe again what the problem is.

I have never in my short time in the hobby, seen a power head like that. What is the attachment in pic 1 and 3rd quarter in pic two. looks like an aim flow director? Where and how does it attach?

@snail - those are typically referred to as a stream / circulation pump or a wave maker - marine guys use them more than the tropical guys unless you are doing a river stream tank that requires big water flow.

@ tom.....the 3rd quater pic plugs into the back of the device, and then attaches to the glass. As for what i want to do, i want to slow down the water output flow as it is pumping 3000 L p/h, which is way to strong for my tank, as it blows my fish away, so i want to slow the flowrate down so my fish dont think a hurricane is on it's way lol.

The way I see it, is that it would be better to get a weaker unit. Keep this one for when you need it in a bigger tank, or to work you ageing water.

Another way would be to direct the water flow upwards, so you create surface action and spend the energy on that, in stead of creating currents. You can experiment, place the power head at different depths and point it strait or nearly straight up. Your waterlevel can not be very high when you do that, as you will then blow the water out of the tank, hence the different depths.(which also create current when deeper) It could also moisten your lights and fittings more than normal.

I like doing it, as surface action help the water with gaseous exchange and the uptake of oxygen. That is why the marine guys use 'wave makers' in the first place. So try and spend the energy on the surface.

At the end of the day, it is all about what you like. I do not think you will be able to 'throttle' the power head. (Let it blow into a 'sock', like a pool skimmer?)

Let us know if you find a solution.
