Ok, quick update time. I was going to post on the weekend but I have a minute to spare quick.

Water test was 100%; only drained the water on Sunday past, so that's over a month this thing held full capacity without a drop leaking.

    - Added a base layer of leca aggregated clay on top of the UGF plate and capped it with riversand. Didn't have to clean it but I can't handle the idea of chucking in dirty soil into any tank. Needless to say, I was busy cleaning the sand for a long time as it's much dirtier than PFS.

    - Only went with 1 uplift tube on the UGF as recommended by a trusted and very knowledgeable friend. 1 tube works best in the middle instead of the corner.

    - Used my leftover dragon rock and formed the 1st draft of the scape.

    - I'm definitely going to hide the pipe as it's poking my eye every time I look at this tank. Going to either glue some smaller rocks together and hide it, or I'll hide it with loads of plants (Micrantherum Umbrosum, Monte Carlo and/or Mosses, etc). I'll play around with it more this weekend.

    - I still need to level the skipper's chilling area and I think I need another bag of sand. Might raise it still; will see what comes of this on the weekend when I get busy with it again.

    - Going to stick plants in between and behind the rocks for some greenery. I might just leave the 'pool' area completely barren, or just put 1 plant there (I have absolutely no clue yet)

    - I'm considering getting smooth pebbles and cap the 'pool' area. Interested to see what it'll look like.

    - I'm also strongly considering getting a moss wall or walls going...sal maar wag en sien.

    - Think I might need to invest in a rain maker. What do you guys think?

    - Going to use one of those el-cheapo lights for the tank.

    - Not using a heater yet as the season will keep the little water there will be in warm. I'll revisit this in March/April next year.

    - Although I have old air pumps, I'm going to buy a new one as the stock I have are noisy. Any recommendations? I hear the Tetra APS pumps are super silent.

I still have lots of smaller dragon rock pieces left, so I'm carrying on with the scape on the weekend to see how else this can look. Any ideas and suggestions welcome. The above pics are what I slapped together last night, thanks to @Shabir who got me motivated to scape a tank

Anyhoo, dankie...will post more updates on the weekend.

I have a tetra aps 50 in my study and it doesn’t disturb me even on video calls. My main tank has a 200 and it’s a bit louder but still quieter than other cheapos I’ve had from the Chinese shop.

It’s such an unusual and fun project, love the creativity! Is your wife stoked about the skipper coming?

Thanks; will get myself one of these.
She's very much happy that we're nearly there. She was sitting on the sofa watching me put the above together and gave some input too.

    Definitely all your fault, lol

    Update time, lol.

So I eventually got around to building another tank, as the previous in this thread cracked and got chucked outside as a cuttings dumping ground.

Funny story, this tank started out as a biotope build, but somehow changed during the scaping process into the mudskipper tank.

    15 July 2023 - Initial build

I chucked in some pinnafitida and buce offcuts from my main tank as well.

To-do List: (for the weekend hopefully)

    - Move Colocasia Esculenta to the rear-right corner
    - Add more rocks
    - Trim the Crassula Helmsi
