Planted Pico - challenge

Quick impulsive lockdown ‘mini pond’ project using plants from the pond:
- cyperus nana
- Berula erecta (tandpynwortel)
- water lettuce
- dodge looking piece of water hyacinth
- hornwort
- salvinia
- one or two strands of ludwigia repens and bacopa monierri growing emersed/floating

Won’t hold livestock, just a couple of snails. Will get morning sun, let’s see how it goes!

Mini pond has gone bonkers 3 weeks in and hardly space left! Topping up with borehole water whenever I water the veg garden.

Is it a nano or is it a pico? Not sure but only 16L (around 4 gallons) so too small for livestock in my opinion. And no filter or heater, so posting it under the pico thread until someone says it doesn’t belong here

Was mostly an attempt to do something with the java fern babies I propagate (normal, narrow leaf and Windelov). Also some moss fragments (Taiwan, fissidens). Would like to see if the java moss could attach itself to the substrate and form a carpet (no water circulation to disturb it). I had some java moss tied to pebbles in there but it looked weird (even weirder than it looks at the moment). Any tips? Perhaps I should sprinkle some substrate over it?

I also added two narrow leaved swords, vallis nana babies, some giant baby tears, hydrocotyle tripartita fragments, rotala fragments and floaters. Oh and 2 crypt babies.

Langa soil and second hand mopane wood that has been soaking in a tub in the shed for almost a year now. A handful of seeded gravel/pfs mix and Stability. As per usual a couple of ramshorn and trumpet snails (not many).

Thinking I’ll velcro the little cheap LED to the cabinet to get rid of the white brackets.

Will be a nightmare to maintain (partly because access into the tank is a challenge) so might not last long in its current rendition. Perhaps a wabi kusa would be more practical, and possibly quite cool.
