Yeah,that always got me...driving round Kaosiung I had my head out the window more often than not peering into the drainage canals...Oh look,another Oscar just went by.... Bet if youre a fishkeeper there,you dont even need to go buy any fish...just pop down to your nearest ditch and catch what you want.....lol

 

i know! its really amazing.. cos to me, those waters seem pretty poluted but theres all this life! u read that gouramis originate from the rice beds and they really do!! i caught 2-3 the one day! amazing.. i'll defn take more pics this time round in TW

 

@shihr did you managed to get hold of the T5 balast for your 4ft aquarium? Down here i found them in a shop but they are all 21W.

 

yes i did! expensive though.. im sure i could have found cheaper.. but i was in a rush.. also its more convienient as its a complete system.. ie caps wiring etc done!

I have spend some time on US forums and you should see those guys complain about prices and useless LPS personal.
Most of the asian countries have all the nice fish hanging out in there back yard.

The tanks are also cheap. Petco has sales on for $1 a gallon for a tank. So a 10 gallon tank will cost $10. There are also so many different varieties of tanks - wide short ones, odd shaped.
The tanks in the shops are made of perspex and are kept very clean. I bought a tank divider for $10 (R70-R75) The Pet Smart shop is huge with everything you can imagine and more. It's the size of Pick n Pay. They even handle dog and cat adoptions in the store. There are cages of birds, tanks with turtles, crabs and other species and so many products, it makes your head spin.
