    Standard 3ft tank 6mm glass

The poly sits inside the tank with these clips so there is no dripping of condensation like you get with the conventional on top black plastic lids. The material is used for awnings so not ideal if you doing planted because they have UV filtration but we use them on cichlid breeding tanks so all good for us

I managed to get the poly at Builders, I need to get it cut to fit my tank, I am unable to find glass clamps.

Which aisle did you find it in? And if you don't mind saying how much did you pay?

You would need to check online which builders have stock, I went to The Glen Builders. I paid R160 for my one, there 1000x500 which is about 400. I asked where they keep the Polyester Sheets because no one knew what I was talking about and bang!!! That’s where I got it at the sheets area, there is no isle number.

Sorry guys, been away from keyboard

I bought the polycarbonate at Builders Rivonia Road - it's in the aisle with perspex sheets, it's lying flat on the shelf so hard to see and I had to get someone to come get it down with a harness and one of their moving ladders

I bought the clips at Aqua Empire but I have seen them at Wild on Pets too.

A bit late... but.. you can design a lid/cover and use plexyglass. Then get someone with a laser cutter to cut the plexyglass. It cuts really clean.. and then silicone it together.

It might be a bit costly. I made an internal filter like this..

Sounds like a great idea but I don't know anyone with a laser cutter

If only I knew someone that can supply affordable plexyglass/perspex then I could make a few custom things.. then the cutting will be cheap as well.

    Here's my internal filter sample
