Paying it forward Ferdie style

Yeah I code in my free time and keep myself up to date with the latest web code. I still take my computer apart to clean and then put it all back together every few months as the dust is bad for the internals - can cause overheating.

 

Strange enough I worked my butt off the last year trying too get good grades. Still had lots of fun with my friends. We didn't really go clubbing but my one friend's mom was cool she would buy us booze and let us pary until early morning, she said it's better than us running the streets getting drunk and god knows what. We never drank excessively but it was still fun. We usually were a group of five girls.

 

My Dad has a air pressure pump and I blow my pc out about every three months too. My dad is a electronics technician so he knows enough to know how bad dust is for electronic components. I struggle with web codes and stuff. Trying to get that stuff in my head makes my brain hurt. I'm more of a wing it kind of person. Oh and creative.

 

Yeah I wish more parents were like that - then less kids would go partying on the streets or drink on the sly. I know some friends who were like that in our teen years.

 

We had a policy with my son where we preferred him enjoying any libations he may want at home. That way we knew where he was, he was safe, and didn't overdo things.
I took him on a few pub-crawls that were organised by his cycling club. They would visit 8-10 establishments, and each have something else to drink. He got his first taste of a brandy and coke at the Dros in Centurion, and declared he liked it. His first whiskey and soda at News Cafe had him pulling all sorts of faces. Most often he would have a milkshake, or soft drink though.

Our house was always full of kids that liked to visit.
Friday evenings were hotdogs and chips night, and we always had a few of his friends over.
Even now, 5 years down the line, some of his school friends still compliment my wife for her great hotdogs.


@Ladysphinx - Many happy returns. Hope everything goes well with the new work.
I know from personal experience how depressing it can be to sit without work, not knowing where the money is going to come from for a bread or milk.
At least my 8 fish tanks keep me sane.
Hopefully I will get to see your setup(s) tomorrow.

I have never tasted a macaroon, even all out local Spar have them...
Take it from the Oom - school is the best time of your life, if you do your part. When you're hair has gone grey, and your body aches getting up in the morning, you will wish you still had your youth, and the time you had at school.
Enjoy life, take care of your grades, and make decisions early on in life to ensure that you get out of life what you want from it.

 

This is our plan with all our kids. We already told my son we will go pub crawling for his 16th birthday.My son will often share a beer with me while we are braaing. I have already seen that my son is responsible as he has refused to start smoking with a friend which ended their friendship. He likes a girl but he told her friends only because he feels that his school career is more important. He's very honest about things going on in his friends circle and often asks advice on how to handle certain situations. He's extremely responsible for his age.

 

Responsible stuff. I hate beer lol, but my parents sometimes give me a sip of wild Africa

I went through with a relationship and it's one of the best choices I've made, we have our time together and time for studies. And physical boundaries of course. Past this life's great having someone with you for some time already

So all you single people, get mingling

Had the same with my boys... they two years apart
I could never have an empty house....They never went and sleep at their friends.. they brought ALL their friends home plus my 2 nephews...
Weekends and school holidays, i always had a full house!!
Its a great feeling..

 

We took our daughter with us to a wine tasting. She enjoyed the cheese platter the most

LOL me too. My personal preference is Bacardi white rum.

 

From bad to worse

My personal favourite is coffee...
Not just any coffee though.
Ricoffy (2 teaspoons) with condensed milk.

 

LOL I rarely ever drink. I drink a lot of tea and when it comes to coffee, I prefer filter coffee that is made by Tebodore in the vanilla / creme caramel flavour.

 

Rooibos for life

 

Let's see, coffee but only made in a certain way, rooibos tea, hot chocolate with and without marula cream or Frangelica, red heart rum, smirnoff vodka, and Smirnoff spins. Beer only when we don't have money. Lots of plain water in summer.

 

This thread has degenerated to something similar to Alcoholics Anonymous.

As long as you play the booze forward, I suppose it is still in the spirits of the thread...
