I saw a video of them dumping 500g of live blackworms into this tank, it's beautiful :D

What would be the filtration requirements on a tank that size?
You would also need a geyser element (at least) just to heat up the tank sufficiently.

I know there are many people with tanks that size, but my mind can't get over the size, as my largest is only a 120cm tank.
This would be at least 3 times as big as I have.

Yeah ... if you can not handle it yourself it does not belong in the fishroom, well that is still my thinking, stops me from going nuts about some large tanks we see these days.

Made a mistake some time ago, got a Red-tail catfish end of November last year. Kept on telling myself its okay for now, you will get a bigger tank soon. Big mistake, so much happened lately and not of it allowed for me to get the tank I wanted or allowed me the time to build a pond I wanted.

Sad thing is that tank had around +/-50 Red-tail catfish when I went there, and after a week there were about 3 left.

It is so easy to make the wrong choices when you "impulse" buy anything.

When I bought this one it was around +/- 5cm in size. Now its around +/- 20cm in size. Not only does this fish grow rapidly it has quite a huge bio load and have a big appetite.

Will be looking around withing the next 2 months or so to sell it to someone with bug enough space to take care of it else I will take it to one of the LFS I know that got space to care for it.

Hoping that whom ever read this learns from my mistake as well and does not do the same as I did.

Still dreaming of owning a monster aquarium one day, but will make decisions/plan better next time and maybe first collect what I need before making these mistakes again.

    Yup.
Unfortunately that's why you need the monster tank first.
I have heard so many cases of people saying: "when the fish gets bigger, I will upgrade". But unfortunately life gets in the way. And then you are stuck with a fish you can't properly care for

That's why I have decided to just keep what I can manage. My only possible worry is the wild caught senegal bichir, but that'll take a long time to reach 30cm plus. I don't know the max size of this variant, but it's not a lake Turkana brute that hits 47cm

It feels like a Cape winter here today.
It is overcast, rainy and cold.
I almost wanted to put some longs and a jersey on.

I had to catch all my newly born baby guppies and relocate them to a smaller tank.

I have a LOT of Hornwort in my guppy tank, and don't bother with separating the females or the fry once they are born.
Any fry get that get predated on, which I see as natural selection at work.
