Rather try and do the following, up your water change to about 30%. Get decent De-chlorinator like Seachem Prime the best out the as per my opinion. Put new tap water in your bucket make sure it is similar temp to your tank water. Then drop in your Prime let it stand for about 5 minutes then pour it into your tank slowly.

As for the salt PLEASE stop putting SALT in your water it is not good for most of your fishes.

Also just have your water tested to make sure all is fine with your tank water, mainly test for Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates the most common test to do for your tank.

    All the best bud.

hey, so the good news is that the tank's been running for a while, it seems to me that your biggest problem with losing fish is probably mostly that they are not really the best tankmates.. i think for now, perhaps you should not at anymore fish, just for a little while, until the tank's settle down a bit, especially once you've shifted some of the fish over to the other tank as we've suggested and everyone has settled in a bit better in their new neighbourhoods so to speak :)

if its possible, could you add a couple of handfuls of gravel from the 4month tank to the 2 week old tank? that would help a lot with getting the new tank more established.. you see, good bacteria from the old gravel will help to deal with the poo and waste in the new tank.. dont remove all the water from the breeding tank, just a quarter or so, and replace it with treated water...

perhaps you could donate your baby fish to a fish shop befor they die?

one last thing befor i leave today, pond safe is a very very strong dechlorinator, its normally only recommended for use in very large ponds and not smaller home aquariums, perhaps rather use something a bit more mild, like a product called "seachem prime" this is a very good dechlorinator and has other benefits like removing nitrate and amonia and other nasties from the tanks water.

anyway, all of the best for now, and please let us know how things are going with the 2 tanks :)

Generally the dwarf gourami tends to be the less aggressive of the species. I've seen gouramis take the eyes out of smaller tetra..

Another quick Q... I put my light off an hour after feeding.. Noticed both my pangasious like got depressed.. Generally they stay near the filter but yesterday they were on 2 separate ends of the tank laying still on the floor and like breathing hard..

Put the light back on and ten min later they were fine...

waited for them to go to there normal spot again and put the light off...

    this morning they looked fine..

in my experience, pangasius cats often "rest" on the floor, especially if they are a bit stressed or if the water conditions are not great... but yes, i have seen them doing this "resting" thing..

have you thought about splitting up the fish into the 2 tanks as recommended yesterday?

i'm really glad you turning off the lights now, this will also help to strngthen your fish and build up their immune systems a bit.. i didnt see the pangasius on the list till you mentioned them now, they should both go with the bala sharks in the bigger tank.

good luck with moving the fish :)

    Hi and welcome to TASA.

Would you mind trying to take a photo of the filter you have in the tank please. This will help us a lot too.

    As with the fish:
    Am I right in understanding you have a 4ft (120cm) tank and a 3ft (90cm) tank?

Firstly I would take the goldfish back to the petsop. They belong in ponds or species tanks only.

Leave the pangasius, pleco, angels, bala shark, albino shark, clown loachs, in the 4ft tank. Most of these fish tend to grow really big and may outgrow your 4ft.
Put the rest of the fish on the 3ft except for the barbs. Try keep gouramies with gouramies because the barbs may try to nibble on them.

If you don't have a heater for the 3ft then put the 100W one in and get a larger one for the 4ft tank, ideally 200W-300W

    HTH a bit.

@Firefly, here is a pic in his album showing an internal powerfilter, i'm not sure of the make and model, but i think its a powerful one, i've seen something similar before, altho its probably not enough flow rate for the amount of fish currently in the tank.

the albino rainbow shouldnt be left with the bala sharks. rainbow sharks get aggressive with any other torpedo like fish and the bala sharks and pangasius would suffer.

    click on "home"

    go to "user cp"

    go to "edit profile"

on that page is a thing that says "custom user title"

    you can modify it there.

oh yes and if you go to "user cp" at the bottom you can see who's given you rep as well.

Thanks for the link @mydummyname. What is in the filter? Bio-balls, ceramic noodles or something else like filter floss?
