Nope tried it for a month and honestly I can say that I did not see any difference to using carbon, so I took it out. I cannot see my self using it ever again in the future. In the end a UV filter did the trick.

Now I will revert back to my usual wayer change routine on this tank.

@David Kusner Looking very good, can I give you some advise? Rather remove those pipes from your filters you will see you water will be much more crystal as the air particles makes the water appear not as crystal as it supposed to be... rather try and point your outlets to the surface for proper surface agitation. it also plays a huge role in crystal clear water.

    Thanks.. was just curious..
I don't use Purigen either and my bioload is crazy
I firmly believe that if your filtration is right you don't need Purigen unless you have an emergency or try get rid of tannins
We do use UV lights/sterilizers on all the tanks though

Thanks for the advice funnily enough I finnaly got around to repiping and installing the second canister properly into the cabinet on Sunday (made the wife extremely happy). I left off the DIY spray bars because I had flow issues.

I eventually sorted out the flow issues and didnt bother with the spray bar because I made the return flow just above the water line on the left back of the tank so i can monitor the water flow and I already noticed the difference this morning.

And now that you mention it, I understand why the LFS 's do that with thier tanks.[IMG]

Yup the same, running 2 canister and overhead and just started dabbling with UV. Very impressed with results from UV and going to make this part of the filtering process on the bigger tanks from now on. Was worth ever cent and compliments the canisters hugely.
