i use bio vital, 1 spoon to every 100 liters, it does make you water milky for about 2 hours but it works well, if you not keen on the milky water, mix it in a coke bottle and then let it settle and pour the water in the tank, you will only need a quarter teaspoon, make sure you declorinate the water before mixing. bubble filters are availbale everywhere, they are very cheap, you connect it to your airpump and bobs your uncle. you just need to fill it up with media, i do a layer of ceramics and top it up with cotton floss. here is a pic

 

Thank you. I will definately look into that. Would i be able to fill it up with sponge as a media? I will also purchase some bio vital and give that a try.

 

some of them come with sponge in them you pay a bit extra but they are nice. im sure you can use your own sponge, some cut it in small squares and stick in in there. cotton floss is very cheap like 6 bux a bag. and that has enough for 2 changes. what i do is fill it up with cotton floss then when its dirty i take half of it out and put clean floas in then a few days later i take the other half out and replace that. but its up to you

 

These are also called corner filters. I have 1 that has 2 compartments with filter floss/porous sponge/less porous sponge/Seachem Matrix in each compartment. As Ammar says, they sometimes come with the filter media but you can mod them according to your requirements. I've had Purigen and activated Carbon in mine on occasions.
